We just had one of the worst dining experiences ever at Levant. From start to finish, it was disappointing and embarrassing — especially after I had told my guests they would have the “best food ever.”
First, the table napkins (the ones people place on their laps) were used from previous guests, simply wrapped to look new. When we pointed this out, the waiter silently took them away and said they had no clean ones, handing us cheap paper napkins instead. No apology, no effort to make it right.
When our beverages came, some had straws and others didn’t. We politely asked for more straws multiple times — nothing was brought, and they acted as if they didn’t hear us.
The food itself was shockingly average. Levant used to have excellent flavors, but tonight was just bland. Even the small touches were missing: they have a signature welcome drink (a tiny zucchini/cucumber soup shot) which was served to tables who came after us, yet skipped for us entirely.
One of our dishes — fried chicken bowls — is supposed to come with sauce. We asked for it when it didn’t arrive, but it never came.
Then came the most disrespectful part: after telling us “last order in 10 minutes” (which we didn’t mind), 30 minutes later they turned off the air conditioning to push people out. This was not subtle — it was uncomfortable and rude.
Levant, you used to be a place we loved and trusted. Tonight was miserable, from hygiene to service to basic hospitality. As regular clients, we left feeling ashamed, disappointed, and completely let down. Definitely reconsidering...
Read moreI'm coming from the United States. This was a very unique and impressive experience. I took my whole family. Ten people total. I'm going to start with the service. Living in the states we are spoiled by the service at American restaurants. Local and franchise alike. As Americans, we notice service falls short outside the United States to the point of, its expected to fall short. At Lavant Restaurant in Amman Jordan, you would think you're dinning at a 5 star restaurant in downtown New York or Chicago or your favorite high-end restaurant in any city/USA. Top notch, country club type service. Napkins placed in your lap. Dirty plates and silverware constantly cleared. Never ran out of bread or water. Very pleasant conversation with our server. Khamis is his name. Humble. Very knowledgeable. Very pleasant. Very kind towards my elderly family members. I couldn't have done a better job serving my own family at my own house. As for the food, it was fantastic. Armenian and jordanian cuisine. We did everything family style. We shared appetizers. Cold and hot. We had kubba Nia which translates to raw kibba. For those of you who are not familiar, think beef carpaccio. Absolutely wonderful. We had fried kubba. Hummus with and without meat. Shawerma skewers. Kabobs. Chicken and lamb. Oh my my the food was above and beyond. It was worth every Jordanian dinner. We had quite a few extra dishes which I can't quite remember.
