CJ's village Market is the worst of all CJ's. Going there on Thursday evening and the place was very busy was a very big mistake. We gave our order very clearly to start with the starter, after we were done then we would have the main meal. After a short wait, the starters all came with the main meal. We were very surprised as we had clearly indicated the order of service. Furthermore, we had gotten a small round table for three that wouldn't have fit the food. They apologised and went back with the mains. For the starters we had ordered the chicken Thai and noodle soup 🍜. I have had this soup severally at CJ's Kilimani and it has always been awesome. But this particular one at Village Market was watery with hard noodles that had obviously been quickly prepared. Some of us were unable to eat it. When the main meal came, I had ordered fish fingers with fries - the fingers totally lacked flavour at all which killed it for me, my sister had ordered pepper steak with pepper sauce. When it came, the pepper sauce was done with flour and the steak was rare and the order was well done. She abandoned the meal. When they noticed the uneaten food, the manager came to find out what the issue was. We made an effort to explain. His first reaction was that, that is the first complain they have received since morning. We mentioned maybe it was perhaps they were very busy and he said no we are Not busy yet there was no extra seating available. Anyway he brought the Menu and asked my sister to pick another meal. She was frustrated by this time and decided to go with the platter for samosas and spring rolls. We again gave instructions for the samosas to be all meat and the spring rolls all chicken. When the platter came, on taking the first bite of the samosa it turned out to be a vegetable samosa. I mean seriously? On complaining yet again, the manager quickly went with the platter and replaced it with another one. Not quite the dining experience we had expected. This is not a place we...

Read moreMy colleagues and I visited CJs Kilimani on the 12th of July after a busy morning moving. Upon arrival, we were ushered in and given a booth since we were about 10 people. We made our orders then sat waiting as we interacted. The orders took a while to get there because they had to get everyone's order ready. We did make enquiries severally and were met with the same response.
The booth we were given had a door and when we tried closing it, the manager said we couldn't because then they'd have to charge us conference fees. Apparently when the door closes, the space turns into a conference hall or something. Our meals arrived after 30 minutes plus of waiting and some of us started eating. The food was okay, not as flavourful as it ought to be and the portions were great. Some of us were happy with their meals while others found theirs to be okay.
The manager present was not friendly and each time we'd make an enquiry, we'd be met with dispassionate responses. We also consistently had to follow up, rather than being updated on the food progress. When we asked for ice, it took forever to arrive, that one of us had to get it. I wouldn't recommend CJs Kilimani purely based on their service. I'm huge on service and certain behaviours are...
