Cornerbar.lv — Restaurant in Riga

We came to Corner Bar yesterday just before 8 PM and sat on the terrace. There are QR codes on the tables for ordering, so we scanned, placed our order, and paid online without thinking twice — the door was wide open, and their official hours everywhere say they’re open until midnight.

About 10 minutes later, the door shut suddenly, and nobody ever came outside. That’s when I realized something was off. They had closed the place — without warning, without checking if anyone was still sitting outside waiting for an order, and despite taking our payment online.

As someone who comes from hospitality, I’m honestly shocked. This kind of service is unacceptable. Why keep your QR codes up, take online payments, and list late hours if you’re going to shut the place without notice?

Lost time, lost money, and a complete lack of basic service standards....

Our family of 4 enjoyed a tasty meal in this simple and nice establishment - prices are affordable for Riga Old Town even if you do have to go down to the bar to place your order (or end up waiting for long). We got grilled sandwiches as a snack and I was very happy they didn’t put oodles of cheese into my ham tostada. Coctails are lovely and really good price for old town (6€). Sandwiches were 5€. Total bill snacks & drinks was 39€, which is super reasonable. Lots of choice of beer including on tap. WC is clean & decent. No easy wheelchair access as there are stairs to go down, but streetlevel is ok. We didn’t try the famed Latvian food options, but I’m tempted to come back for those. The menu...

I went to to place cause it advertised latvian dishes... the server never greeted us and took her 20minutes to sit us... She dosent know the menu and has to look at the menu and she dosent have customer skills. She is very slow and the drinks took forever to arrive same with the food. She does not speak any English and she is no attentive. The menu the boring and there is not not to choose regarding Latvian dishes. The potato pancakes were good but the rest of it was bland and not creative and lack of flavor. The hot chocolate was not very good and it it not that reasonably priced. The place looks run down and I would suggest going to other places for authentic food... I do...
