We booked room for 4 days in this hotel cause our friends were staying in this place at the same time.. And that was mistake. Price was quite steep but location was so good that I tought why not. We drove to Riga from Finland and first ofcourse we wanted to park our car. Person at counter told us our options, you can use valet service for 18e per day or park 500m away for littlebit cheaper but only from 8-16 and then we would need to change place further away.. We speculated situation for a while and then he said "..or then park the car right next corner for free and 24\7.. Ok.. Well that wasn't great start. We got our keys and went to our room in 3rd floor and immediately we noticed damp and stuffed air. Full floor carpeting ofc so we experienced 1000 past visitors all at once. Well window open and some fresh air in. Decour was what they advertise, authentic grandma house and that's fine, some people like it. Gladly shower was big and bathroom seemed clean. WiFi worked well all around hotel. Then we went to terrace restaurant for complementary drinks and they had some local beer and wine so that was fine. We wanted to drink some more but waiter never came back to pick order up even that we went to look for him at the counter. Some kitchen staff said that wait a bit, he will come soon. We waited 15min more but he never came. Breakfast was quite good and had nice selection especially sweet stuff. Breakfast place had nice info about hotel history and that was actually one of the best parts of that whole hotel. One final punch for my dissapointment was that when we were leaving, I checked under the bed and inside the drawer that did we leave anything behind. I found pair of sandals, whole big empty bottle of prosecco and bus receipt from 2016.. Really.. 2016! No wonder that there was stuffy and damp air if cleaning was on that level. I'm not person who complains about small stuff but for 4 star hotel with this price range overall everything was quite horrible except location. *EDIT* Reply for the owner: Yes i appreciate that you apologize but hopefully you understand that this was not attack to you or your hotel. These sites are made for people who travel/use services and want to know more about that place. How things actually were experienced and not how marketing people presents them. As harsh it may sound but in the end only thing that you can do is learn from made mistakes and trying truly better for next customer. I am not trying to start dialog with you, i am using these sites for how they are ment to be used. Giving fellow travelers more info so they can decide better where to put their hard earn money.

3 night stay here. On arrival late in the evening (after being ripped off by taxi driver from airport) the woman attending reception was dour and abrupt! Our room (102) is perfectly acceptable. Clean. A bit tight for space. Warm. Comfy beds. Kettle. Hair drier in bathroom is pretty useless (as many hotel wall hairdriers tend to be) but Baiba was happy to find me a 'conventional' option which did a good job. Plenty of piping hot water. Shower pressure brilliant. Guests are given the choice of either having a free drink every day in the rooftop restaurant or a room clean (in the attempt to help the environmental aspects of using laundry water sparingly). Not a bad concept. Breakfast choice I would say was limited. No decaffinated coffee available. This older hotel building seems to be maintained well and apart from the staff member we encountered on arrival who was truly unpleasant, I would recommend for sure. The other staff, especially Baiba, went out of their way to be helpful. Location in the old section of the city enables easy walking distance for majority of sights, especially at this time of year, if your 'thing' is a traditional Christmas market.

very nicely located in the heart of the old city, looking charming and deliciously old-fashioned at first sight, but unfortunately hampered by being left untouched for... centuries possibly. metal bed, bumpy mattress with broken springs, no feather pillows and no duvet. a dozen chairs to sit on but not a single one in enough good shape to sit comfortably, shower in the bathtub with the horrible sticky shower curtain everyone wished was banned years ago from the hotels worldwide. insufficient lighting and badly placed electric sockets too. toiletries and coffee-corner were randomly refilled (or not) and products partially used by the previous owner were left for us, such as the (unique!) complimentary water bottle that was already opened and drunk from. I also read tremendous reviews of the breakfast buffet, and I found it very disappointing: the choice of food is very limited, and it lacks flavour and quality (fruit juice is thinned down with water for example). let's mention the kindness, friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff though, that happily balance the breakfast staff who never returned a smile nor a greeting.

This is a nice old fashioned hotel. It has a good location. If you are getting picked up for The hill of crosses trip it is just round the corner. The meeting point for the Market tour and Old town tour is just a five minute walk. My room 109 was in the old part of the hotel just off the reception with half a dozen stairs to climb and about 4 or 5 other rooms on that landing, so very quiet and the room looked out on to a quiet back street. The room itself was a superior twin which was very roomy, an old fashioned decor with large beams, so if you are tall, watch your head. The bed was firm but comfortable. It has a tv with English channels. There is a kettle but bring your own coffee. A fridge but no milk so remember to buy some. There is drinking water and you can refill your bottle at the filter water machine on floor 3. The shower didn’t have shower gel. It had shampoo and conditioner in dispensers in the shower and a hand wash dispenser at the sink. I’m sure they would provide shower gel if asked. The room was cleaned every day and the hotel staff were lovely and friendly. The breakfast was ok but I’ve had better. They have bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, porridge, cake etc but not much cereal and fresh fruit. I think this hotel is becoming a little frayed hence the four stars but we had a wonderful stay and would recommend. The highlight was the rooftop restaurant upstairs which is fantastic as is...

As a solo traveller, i needed somewhere i could call home for a couple of nights while i adventured off all over the place......this was it! I have never before stayed somewhere quite as fantastic as this. A welcome with zero fuss, the knowledgable concierge showed me what i needed to know and let me to get on with my busy trip.

The Room - Massive, beautiful, clean and comfortable....you know that feeling and smile you get as you walk in and you know you picked well, this'll do it to you! The bed is a big queen, with lots of comfy cushions and pillows and i slept so well. The shower room was big too, just great with everything i needed, big towels, soaps and gels. Fridge, kettle with the usual bits and peices are also provided.

The breakfast - I always have the fresh fruit, granola, yoghurt and honey, a pot of fresh coffee and a slice of toast with all the condiments you need.....it really is a great way to start the day!

The hosts - These guys are the perfect team! with the most attention to detail who could not do more for you. Always around to help when needed, good for a chat and a laugh and have all the info and advice you ever need. They are the pefect team!!

If you are visiting Riga, this is the...
