We booked room for 4 days in this hotel cause our friends were staying in this place at the same time.. And that was mistake. Price was quite steep but location was so good that I tought why not.
We drove to Riga from Finland and first ofcourse we wanted to park our car. Person at counter told us our options, you can use valet service for 18e per day or park 500m away for littlebit cheaper but only from 8-16 and then we would need to change place further away.. We speculated situation for a while and then he said "..or then park the car right next corner for free and 24\7.. Ok.. Well that wasn't great start.
We got our keys and went to our room in 3rd floor and immediately we noticed damp and stuffed air. Full floor carpeting ofc so we experienced 1000 past visitors all at once. Well window open and some fresh air in. Decour was what they advertise, authentic grandma house and that's fine, some people like it. Gladly shower was big and bathroom seemed clean. WiFi worked well all around hotel.
Then we went to terrace restaurant for complementary drinks and they had some local beer and wine so that was fine. We wanted to drink some more but waiter never came back to pick order up even that we went to look for him at the counter. Some kitchen staff said that wait a bit, he will come soon. We waited 15min more but he never came.
Breakfast was quite good and had nice selection especially sweet stuff. Breakfast place had nice info about hotel history and that was actually one of the best parts of that whole hotel.
One final punch for my dissapointment was that when we were leaving, I checked under the bed and inside the drawer that did we leave anything behind. I found pair of sandals, whole big empty bottle of prosecco and bus receipt from 2016.. Really.. 2016! No wonder that there was stuffy and damp air if cleaning was on that level.
I'm not person who complains about small stuff but for 4 star hotel with this price range overall everything was quite horrible except location.
EDIT Reply for the owner: Yes i appreciate that you apologize but hopefully you understand that this was not attack to you or your hotel. These sites are made for people who travel/use services and want to know more about that place. How things actually were experienced and not how marketing people presents them. As harsh it may sound but in the end only thing that you can do is learn from made mistakes and trying truly better for next customer. I am not trying to start dialog with you, i am using these sites for how they are ment to be used. Giving fellow travelers more info so they can decide better where to put their...
Read moreThis is a nice old fashioned hotel. It has a good location. If you are getting picked up for The hill of crosses trip it is just round the corner. The meeting point for the Market tour and Old town tour is just a five minute walk. My room 109 was in the old part of the hotel just off the reception with half a dozen stairs to climb and about 4 or 5 other rooms on that landing, so very quiet and the room looked out on to a quiet back street. The room itself was a superior twin which was very roomy, an old fashioned decor with large beams, so if you are tall, watch your head. The bed was firm but comfortable. It has a tv with English channels. There is a kettle but bring your own coffee. A fridge but no milk so remember to buy some. There is drinking water and you can refill your bottle at the filter water machine on floor 3. The shower didn’t have shower gel. It had shampoo and conditioner in dispensers in the shower and a hand wash dispenser at the sink. I’m sure they would provide shower gel if asked. The room was cleaned every day and the hotel staff were lovely and friendly. The breakfast was ok but I’ve had better. They have bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, porridge, cake etc but not much cereal and fresh fruit. I think this hotel is becoming a little frayed hence the four stars but we had a wonderful stay and would recommend. The highlight was the rooftop restaurant upstairs which is fantastic as is...
