Came in for lunch as I remember this place had good picas and simple yet nice flavors years ago, and I haven't visited in quite a while.
For a can of coke and "Vietnamese" pita I paid 10,90, which to be honest is a high price for food like this, but anyway I'm happy to pay a bit more for a delicious food, so I didn't mind. Order came quite fast, no cutlery were brought together with the dish, but that's ok. After a few bites and opening the pita - I left the plate just like that.
I brought the food back and politely said, “I don’t know if it's always like this here, but the pita had no softness at all (cracking pita is visible in the photo). The carrots were raw, there were only three cucumber slices that were brown and soggy, and the chicken "meatballs" (they did remind more of a meatloaf's) were tasteless and rubbery...” I said it just didn’t seem right. The response I got? “We’re sorry. Have a good day.”
As I was leaving, I heard the chef in the back mutter, “He doesn’t know what good taste is.” Well, as a person with 16 years of hospitality experience under my belt - I though I do, but apparently will have to rethink my whole life now.
Really? What an example of hospitality :)...
Read moreWe came for late lunch on a Sunday and the place was busy. They have a few tables and the counter.
We ordered - cleaned our own table - and sat down.
We ordered two starters and two egg dishes as main.
The first starter took almost an hour to arrive. It was a hommus set with pita - it was good.
After a while the two main courses arrives - Nduja Hash and Eggs and Azerbaijan Eggs . Anduja Eggs were ok, Azerbaijan Eggs were prettier than tasty.
We finished the main courses - cleaned our own table again - and after maybe 20 minutes the second starter arrived. Baku Gutab with herbs - we didn’t really enjoy it.
We read crazy gloating reviews from people really amazed by the food. We came expecting this crazy experience and were not impressed. The food is decent , looks good and tastes ok. Also is a very good cost benefit.
The pita is definitely something to highlight, baked at the moment, delicious arrives steaming at the table.
Service was sad, nonexistent.
Even tho it was cold inside the place...
Read moreTheir only good item is the Kuku shakshuka plate - it’s worth it to come here just for this dish, eggs sizzling in a rich oily herb sauce, topped with feta, pomegranate seeds and yogurt. The wraps, from what I tried, are all under spiced and undersalted. The pizzas are not worth it at all, coming out as soggy piles of slop.
I really do think this place has a lot of potential. The pitas themselves are delicious, cooked in a fire burning oven, always coming out delightfully fluffy. The owner just needs a revamped menu with more balanced and exciting filling options for pitas, as well as a complete change for their pizzas which are frankly always a disappointment.
I love you, but try to do better.
Sincerely,
A customer who works right down the street and often stops by for lunch due to a lack of other options...
