First time trying this place.
First impression: Service is amazing. Very attentive staff and friendly service by both the staff and owner (maybe?)
Cozy environment. The vibe can be romantic and relaxing. The table lights creates a warm and relaxing mood. Suitable for family or couples.
Menu is rather confusing. I’m not sure what cuisine is this. It has a mix of Thai, Chinese and western food. A great guide to choosing a restaurant is never go for those that has a bit of everything.
Review of the dishes we ordered. BBQ ribs is too sweet
Belacan Okra with Mushroom is too spicy but without the belacan fragrance.
The paste for nyonya steam fish needs a bit more work.
Glass noodle from the Crab with glass noodle was way over cooked and can do better with more well sautéed garlic and some ShaoXin to reduce the fishy smell from the crab.
Steamed scallops with glass noodle was the best from all the dishes we ordered. Can do better with a little less saltiness.
Salted egg yolk mantis prawn was ok.
Salted egg yolk chicken was ok.
Overall this restaurant nailed its setup and service but they really need to work on the recipe of their food. I suggest focus on a signature dish or cuisine and drop the rest, so the restaurant can sell itself as a the best for the said dish. Worth trying again if they improve their...
Read moreRoom reservation was made for 9 pax. The room is with 2 JBL speakers and Karaoke system, adding one aircond in the room. One waiter will be standby in the room to serve you. They service is very good as every dishes come they change u a new plate.
We ordered US oyster, asparagus, Siew Bak, Mantis shrimp with steam eggs, prawn, and crab porridge soup, their signature kopi coconut ice cream, honeydew sago with coconut ice cream & the soup.
For oyster, i dont feel any different with what i ate in malaysia. The asparagus is very sweet and tastes delicious. The siew bak is above the standard, please try with their sambal! Their sambal tastes good too! The mantis shrimp is very fresh and you can taste the sweetness in the steam eggs, prawn for me is normal, crab porridge is nice.
Would like to give a 5 stars for their soup, the soup is very rich, and the ingredient for it is like 120%. Recommend 👍🏼
I cant find any bad from this restaurant, maybe the toilet, has only 2 toilets(one female and one male) in upstairs, so need to queue if crowded. Dessert is just normal and standard.
Definitely will...
Read moreCheang's has reopened at this new location. Previously known as cheang Kee at tanjung bungah, operating out of a corner landed house.
Their new location is smaller but the food quality is still the same.
Must order the clsypot tanghoon with crabs. And the duck egg yolk brinjals. Both are sinful but very yummy and will have you licking your fingers afterwards.
Service is superb and attentive as the waiters will clear plates of shells once it's full.
Food also arrives quickly.
Only a few tables inside so make sure you call or WhatsApp ahead to make reservations.
For sure, the biggest cons about this place is the price. Crabs are very expensive here for local budgets. Consider this a place for a special treat or to bring outstation guests in a clean air conditioned environment with great table service.
For cheaper crabs eaten at a hawker stall kopitiam open air environment, consider big crab at jelutong. Much cheaper by about half the price.
You get what...
