Midnight Black — Restaurant in George Town

From a guy who’s been to parties in many different cities, I thought I’d spend the time to write my experience about this place. It was a Friday night, my friends and I arrived by the door at 11PM, but there were no line up at all so we on the streets to do some pre-drinking and came back at 1AM. There weren’t many people but we still decided to go in and check it out. Price wise, it costs 92RM for an entry ticket that only includes 1 beer. If you get one bottle of hard liquor (700RM) OR a case of beer (24bottles, 550RM) you could get a standing table for the night. Since my friends and I already pre-drank and it was getting late, we thought we would get the entry ticket and just buy other drinks by the bar. The atmosphere was spacious and comfortable, it felt newly furnished and clean. The visuals and audio were great. The lighting and visual effects really get you hyped up.

Unfortunately, as we finished our entry-given beer, we went up to the bar for shots and learned that they only offered a set of 6 shots that was vodka+orange, costs 200RM. This was extremely disappointing as our crew prefers anything else but vodka. I understand that they don’t offer any cocktails because there were no bartenders, only bus boys. They could have simply offered type of shots or glasses of whisky, tequila, etc from any opened bottles that I see on their shelf, but they do not. We had to either buy a bottle of hard liquor or just continue with more beers which the girls did not prefer. Our verdict - the price was considered high for the expense level of this city but affordable. However, the lack of beverage choices were extremely disappointing. We felt like if we had more diverse in drinks, the atmosphere with great visuals and audio would really make our night.

FYI, the video I post is the final song of the night, the visual effects were much better earlier. Props to the DJ that night! He was very energetic and played diverse tracks that are accustomed to different crowds. Hope this helps whomever is considering about...

was initially interested in this place because of the good reviews, but the experience at the entrance was disappointing. My partner and I tried to enter, but the staff said we had to order a drink before even stepping inside. I understand if there’s a minimum order once you’re seated, but it’s quite common to at least take a quick look at the vibe before deciding what to order.

The staff were curt and simply said “cannot” when we asked if we could just peek in for a few seconds. It wasn’t about avoiding a purchase — it’s just natural to want to see the place first. I even went back later, after calming down, to ask for a polite explanation, but was told, “It’s like a zoo — you can’t enter without paying for a ticket.” That response felt both rude and unnecessary.

Overall, we left with the impression that they assumed we wouldn’t spend money, which felt unfair and insulting. For a place with such good ratings, I expected a more welcoming and...

I just come to check how is it look like. I were stunt by the big LED screen behind the DJ. It is so phenomenal just like Printworks at London. The Procedure to get in is impressive too, they will checked your ID for locals or Passport for foreigners. The bouncers are super friendly and helpful. It has cover charge to get in ya.
