Annachi Bamboo Masalla Briyani — Restaurant in George Town

The restaurant went on a good start with nice range of dishes served with warm rice, but a week later all has changed. Food prices have gone up much. On the first week, I bought a packet of rice with mutton and three vege for only RM11, which was reasonable. Then two days later, bought same amount of rice with two vege and mutton, price RM12. Today bought half the rice, two vege and half the mutton, got charged RM16. Service is also poor and arrogant despite many workers and waiters in the restaurant. Nobody is keen to serve or attend unless you're willing to wait even when no customers in queue. The cashier who seem to do everything acts like a boss while the real supervisor (or manager) is always on the phone, will look at you, and let you continue waiting. Utensils are also dusty so...

With much anticipation we went here to have the bamboo biryani, but upon arriving at the restaurant at 10:30am we were told by one of the staff to come back at 11am, and right after that another staff member said we should come back after one hour at 11:30am since the food wasn’t ready.

We were disappointed and had to go elsewhere to eat. If you say the restaurant opens at 10:30am, then that means they are ready to serve customers as from 10:30am. Don’t say you open at 10:30am and tell customers TWO different times to come back.

We didn’t get the opportunity to taste any of the dishes so our review with just 1 star is to be fair based on the reception and cleanliness of the place when we arrived at the restaurant. Had we been able to taste any of the dishes then our rating would have...

The bamboo briyani is very fragrant, especially after being cooked in the bamboo segment. It is served hot on our table and is accompanied by papadam, pickled cucumber and chilli paste (of sorts) by the side.

You have a choice of chicken, mutton or fish curry (or a mixture of all three!) to go with your briyani rice.

We had the mutton briyani and loved it, especially after mixing with the mutton and fish curry. We also ordered some side dishes from the stall to go with our meal.

The restaurant is relatively clean (but somewhat old) but parking can be a challenge, particularly in this part of town - so be prepared to park a bit further (like we did) to enjoy a...
