Boston Coffee — Restaurant in George Town

I had been here before it renovated. The food and service was good. Therefore, I suggested this place for company gathering and birthday celebration. The overall experience was disappointed and service was bad. Improvements on communication among the manager staff and service are required. My colleague made a reservation and pre-order in advance (1 day before) with the manager (Khai Jie). However, we were told no reservation is made on the actual day when we reached the cafe. The service crews totally have no clue that a group of 16 persons are coming in. No tables and chairs were set! We expected this has to be done prior our arrival as we had make reservation with the manager. This is communication breakdown where messages are not delivered to the service crews. Then, we informed the service crews that we had pre-order food and beverages and the crews again said “we don’t know, our manager didn’t tell us.” After that, he checked with kitchen and realized the foods were pre-order and mentioned to me foods are in preparation and ready to serve once every guest arrived. The food and beverage list was only sent to the service crew when I kept followed up with them. Ain’t this supposed to be communicated before our arrival ? Because you should expect a group of 16 persons is coming!!! After I informed the service crews that food and beverages are ready to serve. It took total 30-45 minutes , almost one hour to serve all the foods! It supposed to be fast as we already pre-ordered and been told the foods was prepared and ready to serve! There was only 2 service crews on the ground to serve, make drinks, take orders and take in charge of the counter. I understand it could be slow as there are still other tables to service. But, the service crews should improve their services when catering a big group. Foods were served without cutleries, until we requested for it. Some of our colleagues ordered a set meal which is cheaper price. During the billing, I was only being informed the set meal is only applicable for lunch time instead of dinner. The manager should inform us earlier when we pre-ordered the food, but until the billing time! The way the manager handling our reservation is even worse than the service crew! No proper communication towards his staff and to us!!! We were so disappointed on the overall dining experience and I was so embarrassed as I was the one suggested this place! I recently visited a café that left me with an amazing experience. This café has a lot to offer, from the comfortable environment, affordable prices, delicious food, and even live band performances. What more could one ask for in a café?

One of the things that caught my attention was the comfortable environment. The café was clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated. What's more, it had air conditioning which made it very comfortable, especially during the hot weather. The seating arrangement was also perfect, with comfortable chairs and tables that were just the right height.

The food was also delicious, with a variety of options to choose from. I particularly loved the sandwiches and salads, which were freshly made and very tasty. The portions were also generous, and the prices were very reasonable, considering the quality of the food.

One thing that I particularly enjoyed was the live band performances. They were simply amazing and added to the already cozy atmosphere of the café. The band was very talented, and their music was very soothing and relaxing. It was the perfect way to unwind after a long day.

The cafe here has a simple modern design that some could find relaxing and you can also sit outside if you want. There aren’t a lot of parking spaces near the place but you can park at the hotel parking opposite it for convenience (RM2/hr, max RM12). From the looks of things, there are hired singers who come here to sing during a certain day or time which is welcoming.

The service here is excellent and both waiters were quite friendly with us. It didn’t take very long for all our food to arrive too so I’m pretty happy with the experience.

On to the food, the presentation is marvelous and a lot of the food were done well, aesthetically. The only downside I can see is not all the dishes were perfect in terms of taste. The nacho sauce was a bit too salty and the deep fried dishes were too hard (Sailor and chip dish for example). The fries were so hard and crispy to the point where it could break and ricochet onto the ground if you try to poke it with a fork; some customers could like their fries being cooked this way but not me.

As for the price, it goes without saying that all the food prices here are expensive and you will most likely spend at least RM30/dish Kun less if you go for the RM26 set lunch.

Overall, we still had a great time here and I hope the management will improve their food taste and quality to make this cafe the best possible...
