I went to Flip Burger in Penang yesterday and ordered the Mojja burger with chicken patties in the selection.

The black sesame bun (probably charcoal bun?) felt soft with a slight chew and a light toasted sesame note. Inside there was a thick fried chicken patties with a golden, crunchy crust that stayed crisp while the meat remained juicy and tender.

You can absolutely taste that the chicken was high quality. 😍

Melted cheese stretched between bites and added a creamy, salty layer. I got the soy garlic version and it was 😋 . There was a fried pinapple hashbrown which I never ate and was yum.

The texture combination was spot on, crunchy then silky then pillowy, and every mouthful had a bit of everything. You can get ketchup and a sweet chili sauce on the side which were both welcome depending on the mood.

The portion felt generous and the burger was satisfyingly messy in the best way. You get a disposable gloves to eat which was nice. 😊

Service was friendly but the food took ages to come even though it was empty, which mattered because I was hungry. Although they made it fresh so I don’t mind.

Overall: Very good. True burger afficioados will find some points to grumble about, but generally it's one of the better burgers in Penang. Closer to a proper burger than McDonalds slop. Food: Burgers and fries. Very wide range of different burger styles. Veggie friendly: They claim to have their own veggie patty with a range of styles, but every time I ask they don't have it. Price: 20-25RM. Standard price for a 'better burger' and comparable to Spades, Burger Society etc. Service: Fast food. You order, get a buzzer. When it buzzes, you get your burger from a hatch.
