📍KOMMUNE CAFÉ, Victoria street, Penang. A plant base dining cafe and shop in Georgetown; serves great dishes and good service. The sister cafe is at Penang Hills the Habitat. Conscious lifestyle & sustainable, shown on the Shop with interesting items & Cafe with delicious food. Awesome taste in every bite, fresh crunchy salad with complex flavour, rich in herbs and spices, clever way to replace meat to cucumber in rendang, amazing! Malaysian flavour in signature dishes, especially in Ulam and Nasi Ulam. Unique flavour, nice plating and combination of tasty vegetables. Must try! Friendly and helpful staffs, informative too. The bill has no service or tax. Highly recommended to Vegetarian lovers!

⭐️ Rendang RM30: delish, succulent cucumber, awesome dish! ⭐️Ulam RM18: combination of fresh vegetables and fruits with dressing of beet root and a kick of chilli. Love it! Went here because the Massaman was recommended on a google search, but didn't realise it was a Vegan restaurant until I arrived! Almost didn't go in, except it was raining and I was there already, very glad I did as well.

I of course had the Massaman and the Flat bread. The Massaman was delicious, as was the flat bread which was incredible, highly recommend you order the bread with whatever else you might order.

I was given a free small desert which was a sweet potato paste inside a toasted sandwich. It tasted like butter and honey on toast, which is to say that was also delicious.

I highly recommend this place, especially so if you're a vegetarian/vegan, but also if you aren't - you won't feel deprived in any way. This is artisan food at it's finest.

The place is also extremely well designed and decorated, very high ceilings and all the furnishing just go well together, it's a nice place to just sit.

They sell some arts and crafts at the front, but didn't really have a close look, as well as some of the food their make on site.

The people who work there are also very nice. Definitely need to support...

A cosy and relaxing vegan café with stunning food and an ambiance atmosphere located in the heart of Georgetown. Came here for brunch and was impressed by their delicate and exquisite dishes. The atmosphere was somber and relaxing, with soft ambiance music. We didn’t have to wait long for the food to come. First came the nutmeg kirfir. It was warm, almost earthy nuttiness from the nutmeg, balanced by a tangy, slightly sour undertone from the fermented base. Next was the Zucchini rendang that had a slightly sweet coconut curry and was delicious paired with wild rice. It was nice but the next dish completely blew me away. The nasi ulam was cooked using couscous, which gave it a nice texture, Light and fragrant, with fluffy couscous soaked in citrusy lemongrass and nutty coconut. The floral notes of laksa flower add depth, while a squeeze of lime brings a fresh, tangy finish. Every bite was refrshing and really satisfying. Prices are abit high but I think its worth it because of how exquisite and delicate this meals are....

We were a table of 13 (inclusive of 3 kids between 2 1/2 to 6 y.o.) on a Sunday night for dinner. Everyone agreed that the food was amazing and especially good if you consider that it’s 100% vegan as well. Top picks from the menu include, but are not limited to: - The smoked Eggplant - The Ulam / mixed herbs & greens Salad with kerabu dressing (especially refreshing!) - The rendang curry sauce (with I can’t remember what veggie at the moment but it was yummy!) - The pan fried Lo Pa Ko (almost like the real thing!) - The chilled Mee Rebus - The chickpea Flat Bread - The vegan Mixed Fruit Rojak - The homemade Spinach Sorbet Best of all, all the portions were huge so we all ended the evening feeling really satisfied and full. The staff needed to be reminded a couple of times to give us serving spoons but apart from that we’re attentive and very friendly. Definitely worth a try and would go back again in a heartbeat!
