A little gem of a place located just a stone's throw away from Pulau Tikus market sits Lhong Tou Dim Sum. It's a bit hidden since the building itself is a little recessed.
I was welcomed with a nicely decorated bright and slightly chic dining area. The air-conditioning was good, which was very welcomed since the hot spell has been very draining for everyone.
I just wanted to pop in for a snack, but was so taken by the offerings that it became a full dinner for me. I ordered a mixed chee cheong fun, a braised chicken feet and some standards like har gow, lor mai kai, bacon roll and a rather interesting unagi siew mai.
Generally, I was impressed with the food. The har gow had double prawns in each dumpling, the chee cheong fun was also packed to brim full of ingredients, the braised chicken feet were also good.
The others fell a bit short of the mark - the lor mai kai was nothing spectacular, in fact it was a bit under seasoned. The Unagi siew mai was a bit of a novelty. Don't expect a slice of unagi on top of your siew mai like a sushi. What you get is a tiny piece (see the pic) instead, which I felt, was underwhelming.
Prices can be steep, especially for the novelty items, but if you stick to the straight and narrow, they are reasonably priced.
All-in-all, I had a good meal there, and the next time I go, I'd stick to the more traditional items. Those tomyam and Japanese fusion additions just don't quite...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting Long Tou Tim Sum for the first time, and it was a delightful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, and they continuously topped up our Chinese tea, ensuring we felt well taken care of. The variety of dishes on the menu was extensive, and what stood out was the unique selection of dim sum that you don't typically find elsewhere.
The Siew Mai was a true highlight, generously filled with fresh, succulent shrimps that were a taste sensation. The Cheong Fun was equally impressive, with a whole shrimp in every bite, making it a delightful treat. The Char Siew filling was rich and tasty, hitting all the right notes. The Yam Puff was an absolute standout, offering a perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and sweet, meaty goodness inside.
The only hiccup during our visit was the Phoenix Claws, which turned out a bit spicier than we expected, not quite to our liking. The Century Porridge, unfortunately, arrived cold, which was a minor letdown. It would have been perfect if it had been served piping hot.
Overall, Long Tou Tim Sum is an excellent spot for dim sum. The welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and the fantastic array of dishes make it a place worth revisiting. I look forward to my next visit and the chance to explore more of their...
Read moreA Delightful Dim Sum Experience: A Must-Try for Xiao Long Bao Lovers
We recently visited Lhong Tou Dim Sum restaurant , a dim sum spot that truly impressed us with its variety and quality.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the xiao long bao. These delicate soup dumplings were a perfect balance of thin, yet sturdy wrappers encasing a rich, flavorful broth and tender minced pork, making them some of the best we've had.
Another standout was the hor fun. The silky smooth rice noodles, combined with a perfectly balanced sauce, created a dish that was both comforting and packed with flavor. Whether you prefer it dry or in a gravy-style preparation, the dish was executed flawlessly.
We also loved the fried radish cake, which had a crispy golden exterior and a soft, fragrant center infused with just the right amount of savory seasoning. The addition of bits of dried shrimp and scallions elevated the texture and taste, making it an absolute must-order.
Beyond these favorites, the overall quality of the dim sum was top-notch, and the service was efficient despite the busy atmosphere. If you're a dim sum lover, especially one who appreciates great xiao long bao, this place is definitely worth a visit!
⭐ Rating: 4.5/5 Would definitely return for another round of these...
