Incredible and absolutely worth it!!! It’s 200 RM (cash or bank transfer only, no cards) for a full 16 course meal that includes drinks and desserts. Baba Jay is so friendly and welcoming. He takes the time to explain Perankan culture, history and architecture to you before you begin your meal, and he also explains the ingredients, history and culture of each dish to you. He always connects his stories back to his family’s own long and interesting history. The food is also incredibly delicious!!! You get to sample so many unique different dishes. You will leave full and satisfied. Each dish is beautifully plated and presented. He also did a cooking class and demonstration for us, where guests can choose to participate and follow along to make a dish. If you do participate, he may give you a small gift as well! You can see how passionate he is about his craft by watching during his demonstration how carefully he creates and plates each dish. He also gave us a tour of his house after, explaining his family history and different architectural details to us. He was super open and willing to answer all kinds of questions. The other staff working that day, a man whose name I didn’t get, was also very kind and friendly. Thank you so much for the amazing evening, Baba Jay! If I come back to Georgetown, I will definitely dine here again and recommend it to...
Read moreLet’s start with the positives. The decor is quite nice, and the service from the owner and his son was decent. The cost was RM250 per person. The portion sizes were very small, but since this was a Nyonya cuisine omakase experience, I won’t judge it based on quantity.
However, the quality of each dish was very average—nothing impressive at all. There was even a “performance” segment in the middle where they did some vegetable chopping. To us, it felt quite boring.
If you’ve never been and are curious to experience it once, sure, go ahead. But if you're a serious foodie or a tourist with limited time, this place isn’t worth your money or time. This is a very honest review—we’re diners who are more than willing to spend on good food, but this experience was deeply disappointing. For RM250, you can enjoy much better and more memorable...
Read moreWhat a fantastic experience! Such a wonderful, intimate experience. Recommend booking as there are only two tables and no walk ins, but once you see the food and the experience you understand why. Great introduction and explanation about Nonya history, including Baba's own history and the history of the house (his grandfathers house which he now lives in, though now runs the restaurant out of the front room). There were several small dishes, all delicately prepared as a degustation menu. We even got to be involved in preparing one dish. Not recommended if you're in a rush as the experience lasts about 2.5hrs and though on the pricier side at 250RM per head it's well worth it, particularly when you see the effort and time that has gone into preparing everything. Would absolutely recommend, the family are lovely and the service...
