Magazine Vista Hotel managed by The Ascott Limited — Hotel in George Town

Location is excellent right in Georgetown. The place was very clean and the space is great compared to a normal hotel. The beds were comfortable and the place is obviously quite new.||||This is not a hotel! Rather it is a collection of apartments for rent. The check in procedure involves making a telephone call to a number in order to get a staff member sent around to let you in. We did not have a mobile that allowed us to call and therefore had to rely on a local shop keeper to dial for us. This seems to be a regular occurrence as the shop keeper seemed to know the number. Being right in town, the traffic noise was very loud! Seriously, ear plugs need to be provided in order to get a good night’s sleep. The master bedroom needs to be swapped with the second bedroom so that you can get a good night’s sleep. For an apartment there were a few key items missing - only 1 knife for 4 place dinner setting; no toaster for breakfast. Other than that everything else was as expected. The checking out procedure is poor. Unlike in other hotels or apartments we have stayed in around the world, we do not see why we have to have someone come and check out the room etc before we can leave. This was a pain and caused us some stress as the person turned up 10 minutes late despite advising them the night before to come at 7am. We had to call the main hotel again to get them to come. To their credit they did come quickly.||||Dropping off by taxi etc is also a pain as you have to actually park around the corner as there is no lobby area. Not a big issue but just be aware if using Grab or a taxi.||||Wifi is abysmal in this day and age. At least you don't pay extra for it but it is so slow. My advice is bring a mobile/cell phone and hot spot...

1. the management decision, e-mail been send twice on 11 Dec and 14 Dec to get confirmation on request for||Room 1 - 1 double bed + 1 single bed ||Room 2 - 1 double bed + 1 single bed ||Sofa bed 1 pax at living room ||but no reply until 2pm on 15 Dec, 1hr before check in time from Booking.com say your requests is not guaranteed until the property has confirmed it. Magazine Vista official reply in on 17th Dec at 9:59am stated rejected||With this kind of mind set management running for business ........ bright future la your hotel!||2) during check in i have asked why not e-mail reply to me otherwise i could have make our arrangement elsewhere||than say ok we charge you today and cancel your booking tomorrow ........another joker management decision what make you think we will pay for one night when clearly you guy are not on par (twice check mail by did not bother to reply and when facing situation no quality solution)||3) I can fully understand that this guy Zammy is trying to do his job with every step he is cross checking with his office over the phone, we certainly be here for 2 nights to explore Penang and will not get spoil by this hotel management, therefore one of my friend will have to sleep in another hotel nearby.||||Conclusion : this place can be improve with better management team more experience staff to handle situation arise||||will we stay here again the...

Location is fantastic. Near to the GAMA mall. It provides Netflix, toothbrush, slippers, etc... Room configuration: (1) King Bed (2) 1 Queen 1 Sgl (3) 2 Queens. Spacious with living room and a big kitchen equipped with kettle, microwave, washer cum dryer and fridge. However, its cleanliness was in doubt. We stayed in the bedroom with ensuite toilet. The room smelled, so we had to leave the door open throughout the night. On top of that, our bed also smelled quite badly. The shower screen moved out of its alignment and it does look dangerous. Upon arrival, they gave us a card and stated wifi password and next day check out date. 1. Wifi Password was wrong2. Check out date was also wrongWhatsapped them, they provided a new password and confirmed my check out date is 2 days later. Come next day, we couldn't enter the apartment as pin number for the lock was not valid anymore. So the whole group of elderly and children got to wait for someone to come and reset the pin. Asked what went wrong, they simply said system error. No apologies given. I couldn't change hotel midway too as I had paid for 2 nights and moving 4 elderly + 3 children to another hotel at the last minute during June school holiday is no joke.
