To all the LADIES out there, NEVER come to this hotel. And I mean, NEVER. Tldr; harassment by hotel staff.
Note: purpose of writing this review is to look out for all the potential guests in the future. Something I’d want to know myself.
Was on a trip here with my friend (female) for 3 nights and on our first day here, an hour into our check-in (arnd 4pm), we had a knock on our door. Thinking it was room service, I opened the door (no peek hole) to a drunk looking man, in his 30s, curly hair, tanned skin, with a black graphic tee slurring words I could not make out. after he repeated himself did I realise he was asking us to DRINK ALCOHOL WITH HIM. Immediately slammed the door SHUT & LOCKED the room door (no chain by the door for extra security).
We were TERRIFIED. Immediately called the front desk, explaining the situation, giving the description mentioned above & front desk said “yes, that’s my staff. Let us know if you need housekeeping.” I had to repeat the situation and when he realised what was happening, he then said “oh no, that’s not my staff, we would never do that.” Me thinking he would do something to figure out the situation, all he said was an extremely monotonous “ok”. Then he put down the phone. No action was taken by the hotel management.
We left the room soon after, physically went to the front desk to follow up on the situation. We asked if that was their hotel staff, he said “no, it’s a guest, from room xx.” As we expressed our concern and fear for our safety, all he said was “it’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok. Don’t worry. It’s safe. It’s safe. It’s ok.” The worst thing he said? “MAYBE THAT’S HIS WAY OF FLIRTING WITH YOU.” How sick can one be to even have that thought run through his mind? Front desk said he’d ask this man to apologise to us but we said “no, we don’t want to be anywhere near him.”
We gave up. Realised that there’s no point talking to someone who wouldn’t even listen to us. We left to go out, did not want to make it an even bigger situation because we were scared that they would harm us during our stay there. So we left it as is. While waiting for our grab, he came out and said “my manager will scold him (first of all, would management scold a hotel guest? But we gave them the benefit of the doubt.).” He said an abrupt sorry and before we could respond, he slammed the hotel entrance door shut.
Here’s where things get WORSE. Over the course of our stay there, we noticed this man who knocked on our door, working on the premises of the hotel, meaning, HE WAS A HOTEL STAFF + meant that the front desk LIED to us about who this person was. On our last day, as we were checking out of our room, he (drunk man) was housekeeping the room opposite ours. As we left our room, he was staring at us, talking to us “hi. Checking out?” We immediately walked down as fast as we could, my hands starting to shake out of the FEAR that I felt.
The fact that he’s still approaching us after we’ve explained to the management how unsafe we felt around this man made me think of 2 things: Our concern was NOT relayed to him by the management. This man does not care about the management and continues to have such behaviour. The fact that he’s still allowed to work there SICKENS me. Just goes to show the kind of behaviour the management supports. Absolutely messed up.
We quickly checked out & after stepping out of the place did I feel like I can finally breathe again. I feel absolutely DISGUSTED to have had this encounter at a place that’s supposed to make us feel safe. Extremely disappointed with how this was handled, in fact, it was NOT HANDLED at all. No compensation was given. The fact that the front desk tried to make light of the situation by saying “maybe he’s just trying to flirt with you” is just downright, SICK.
About the rooms: nice design, horrible soundproofing system, AC was super noisy, every flush and sink tap opening was heard. NOT safe at all because the door only has ONE lock, no peek hole. WILL...

Read moreI came to Penang for a weekend wedding and found this boutique hotel quite decent.||||Great location though. I could walk 80% of the time to the places I wanted to go to. There are a lot of cafes around and a mall nearby.||||The wifi was so-so. So, don't rely on it too much if you're a digital nomad or planning to do any online-based work.||||The TV didn't work during my stay and I didn't bother to tell the receptionist about it, because I'd downloaded some stuff on my gadgets already.||||The size of the room is relatively small. I would say, a maximum of 2 people could stay in a room. Even as a solo traveler, it was a bit cramping for me but it was not really an issue for me.||||Told the management that I had to do a late check-in and they were ok with it. I arrived around 10pm+ and there was a receptionist waiting for me.||||The toilet was decent for me. Not much to complain about. I didn't use the other amenities like the kettle or hairdryer so not much to say about it either.||||Oh, there's no closet space except for a clothing rod above the table. Since the hotel is in a commercial area, expect to have views of other shops and roads. ||||Guests are required to take their shoes off before going up to their rooms. They even provided lockers for shoes in the store room lol. But I didn't use them. I just take my shoes off when I'm going upstairs, and take my shoes to my room.||||There aren't any lifts in the hotel only stairs. So yeah it is not accessible for elderlies or the disabled. ||||I like the vibe that it has which is sort of a new hotel and sort of a youngster place. I was satisfied with the price that I had to pay. Overall, I was happy with my stay and I would come back to this place if I...
