Morpheus Restaurant Review

My recent visit to Morpheus Restaurant in Penang was a pleasant surprise. Despite arriving late on a rainy evening, we were warmly greeted by the staff. We had pre-booked our table from Kuala Lumpur and were slightly delayed, but that wasn't a problem.

We ordered the signature tiger prawn pasta and Balinese pork ribs, and as a complimentary starter, we were served a delicious French baguette with salty butter. Unfortunately, the tiger prawn in the pasta wasn't as fresh as we hoped. However, the friendly chef, Mr. Andy, immediately prepared us a new one, ensuring our satisfaction.

The restaurant's ambiance is chic and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening. The service was excellent, and we enjoyed our meals immensely. To top it off, Mr. Andy treated us to a couple of glasses of complimentary red wine while we chatted with him.

Food tries its best to be up to standard and good, but unfortunately it did not make the mark at all. All the food lacks depth & soul. Taste is very much on the surface, disappointedly.

Truffle Risotto lacks the depth and essence of a rudimental risotto. It basically tastes of porridge with truffle oil that’s all. Some suggestions is to perhaps add crunch and texture into the rice itself, with mushrooms. After the 6th mouth, I felt sick of the dish already. The scallops were also halved 😟

The French onion soup lacks fragrance. It’s slightly diluted.

Lamb shank is not as tender and tasty. My dad felt that the taste was quite boring after a while. No oomph to it, but edible.

Foie gras, tries its best to be something but it’s mediocre. Nowhere near the foie gras I had in France.

I’m an avid eater and lover of French cuisine.

Food in the restaurant is edible but not fantastic & wow. Quite disappointed actually.

Fantastic Dining Experience

I recently visited Morpheus and was thoroughly impressed. The food was delicious, with a great variety of dishes to choose from. The grilled chicken and truffle fries were especially memorable—perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

The service was top-notch; the staff were attentive and made excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor and a relaxing vibe.
