RUTIN (NEW WORLD PARK) — Restaurant in George Town

Nice setup and environment, located strategically in downtown Penang. The food is reasonable for its portion and setup but definitely not its taste and service. The noodles were overcooked and soggy, the Alio Oglio was watery and salty.

We placed our order and was served by a young waitress, (short hair, no spectacle). She told us that a few of the items we picked were for breakfast and not available. I asked her to hand the order chit to me so that I could see if we needed to order more and handed the chit back to her after that. She left without saying much and after waiting for 45min and the new customers sitting next and behind us started to eat, we felt something was not right. We then noticed that our order chit was left at the top of the table divider. We then approached another waiter where he took our chit to the counter to check. He came back with a printed chit (just entered our order) and denied that our order was left out. He was helpful in asking the kitchen to expedite our order. When the waitress who served us walked by, I asked if she forgot to enter our order and to our surprise, without a blink, she asked who served us and if we were served by another waitress with spectacle. She then walked away before we responded. That was unbelievable!! What a behavior! Not only did she not admit her mistake, she immediately blamed another person for what she did. It's no wonder so many people commented about the poor service of this place.

Visited 2nd round today, tried the mushroom soup. It was expensive & watery. Taste very bland, unacceptable for this type of quality charged at this price. The brown sugar milk with grass jelly tastes very light today. You can barely taste the brown sugar. Their quality is not consistent. The service crew today is also blur & rude. 1st visit : The food is delicious. The milky soup seafood mi xian is 😋. The broth is very sweet & flavourful. The handmade fishball & meatballs are also very nice. Ingredients used are all very fresh. The seafood aglio olio impressed me. Didn't expect it to be so good. It's not the usual Italian taste. They have their own unique taste, but it's really delicious. Mixture of flavours & good amount of seafood. The brown sugar milk with grass jelly is nice. Strong flavours of brown sugar. The food here is good. The spicy and sour soup lets you choose how spicy you want. I recommend hot and not extra hot because you only taste the spiciness but not the flavor of the soup. Hot is just nice. Pls let the kitchen know that they should clean the fish properly as I pulled out 3 pieces of fish scales from my fish.

The trio fries is not bad either. Served hot.

The nanyang coffee is a little bit too sweet for my liking but the soy bean with cincau is just nice.

The place where I sat, the chair is quite dirty with dust and hairs on it. Despite the restaurant being quite empty when I went, no one did any sort of cleaning. The menu that was given to me, some pages were wet too. Having nice ambience with little care to the experience that you offer to your customer is pointless. Hopefully management will improve on their service.

Since the food is good and they're priced reasonably, I will be back to try other things...
