A sad and boring stay at Tune Hotel Georgetown Penang. Thought my next hotel review would be this as I love to go to New World Park for the wide variety of food. Then headed on for a Karaoke session at Loudspeaker. What a regrettable decision picking this hotel ! Summary : Totally no security from lift to room! Where is your security guard? No need to scan keycards either!! Lift is at ground floor. Lobby is at 2nd Floor! (1st floor is soooooo spooky.....). I asked for two keycards upon checking in, unfortunately they refused to give. Once i stepped into the room there were specks of ashes all over the bed cover and towels, tried swiping it off, it stained the sheets instead.. Definitely ash.. Possibly form cigarettes? More stains on the bedsheets as well! No place to even hang my towels. What took a really bad turn was there was no TV!!! Where is the TV??? I have to literally stare at the bathroom door only?? It was sooo boring being coup up in the room, we just decided to go out and walk around Nagore Square, Giant, etc. Basic amenities : Only two tiny tube of shampoo and two pieces square soap. Two bottles of drinking water provided. No toothbrush, no lotion, no conditioner, no coffee making facilities, no CUPSSS! Only one flipped up/down wood plank that was supposed to be a table? at corner with no chairs. Whatever it is for, it is just plain useless. Plus point: Service from reception is ok. That's about the service you will get. Aircond works fine, with a ceiling fan.? Food around this area is plentiful. 7-11 directly downstairs.
There's no window in our room. Shower with heater works fine. Oh yeah, super small toilet, so not so suitable for those who are claustrophobic. Sitting on the throne your knees will be touching the walls on both sides.. 😂😂. and who installed hair dryer directly above the sink tap? How dangerous it would be if water splashes into the hair dryer? Stay out, don't stay in, unless you don't mind being bored in the room.
Last in my list at the moment. If you have a choice, pick that choice instead of this. For the price in similar range, Loop on Leith ( with smart tv) , Kimberly Hotel, Le Embassy, (both at least with Vision Four) Southern Boutique. Goldenview etc....Tune is definitely NOT an option to take unless you seriously want to be bored to death or last option.
No star given if possible.
We checked out early in the morning.. Just bored....
Read moreWhen arriving to this hotel I was asked to pay a 2 ringit per day "property tax" This was charged after the booking of which I had already paid. There was no receipt given or proof my payment which is very unprofessional. This is already a great way to upset tourists A property tax should be paid by the property owner so already they have misnamed it. The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly however in the morning it seems the hot water had run out maybe due to all the clustered rooms using the shower at the same time. There are no windows in the rooms. The key card that turns on the electricity cuts out all the electricity when you leave the room so you can't even leave your phone in the room to charge because even the plug sockets cut out. The rooms are incredibly small and bunched together so you are likely to hear noise from other guests such as alarm clocks in the morning. One morning a guest who was staying very far away left his alarm blasting at high volume for over an hour from 5:30 am onward. The door should close by itself behind you considering how thick and heavy it is but it did not which means when I left the room I left myself vulnerable to theft since it did not close properly. For the price you pay for a room I would rather spend a little extra and get something much better. The prices for most of these basic rooms are too high. It is very strange that booking online seems to be cheaper than booking from the desk since the online companies take a big percentage of profit...but this seems to be the case with every hotel. The internet is not that strong and reliable so booking things online is not very convenient for tourists. I have been to Malaysia many many times and to see all the hotels increasing the prices but the standard still the same shows why the tourism here has plummeted and disappointed...

When we inquired about the deposit amount, her response was both unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. Instead of providing us with a straightforward answer, she insisted that she would only discuss the deposit details if we handed over our identification card. Her tone was rude and dismissive, which was entirely uncalled for.
As customers who traveled all the way from Kuala Lumpur and endured hours of traffic to reach your hotel, we did not expect such poor service. This experience has left us feeling disrespected and disheartened.
To add on, We had booked two rooms and arrived at 2:30 PM, well after the stated check-in time of 2:00 PM. Upon arrival, we were informed that only one room was ready, and we would need to wait ten minutes for the second room. We agreed to proceed with one room first. However, the other receptionist, then abruptly stated, “Oh, another customer has taken the room, so you will have to wait longer.” To our dismay, we noticed that other customers who arrived after us were being handed room keys, which made us feel unfairly treated.
We believe that all customers should be treated with courtesy and professionalism, regardless of the circumstances. We hope you will take this feedback seriously and ensure that this type of behavior is addressed appropriately.

Finally, Nabilah (Intern) helped on the process. She apologized few times for the inconvenience. Thank you Nabilah. Hope Tune Hotel could avoid this issue moving forward especially for the ones who travel all the way from the south to north or from the other...
