煲老大 Mr Bou by Tang Ren — Restaurant in Iskandar Puteri

Looking at such good reviews from so many loyal customers, i had to bring my family here to try their signature dishes. The beverages did not disappoint. The coffee came piping hot, thick and fragrant 👍. My family loved the size too - not too small, not too big, served in a traditional coffee cup. Their Laksa Tang Ren however, leaves much to be desired. The portion of beehoon was big but the condiments were nothing to shout about - half an egg, one fishball and lots of fishy fish cake slices. My family couldn't finish the bowl Same goes for the flat noodles soup. The fish cake slices were fishy but the soup was sweet.(msg??!) My fried kuay teow came out alright. One medium size prawn, generous pieces of chicken meat and overall, tasted good. The last family member called the nyonya kuih and to his surprise, they were not very sweet and it complimented his hot coffee perfectly. Conclusion - go for the kuih with your cuppa. If you really want to try out their food authenticity, call for rice and their nyonya ala carte dishes. Parking is plentiful and free. I would go back anytime for my hot...

For dinner, food is ok, but portion is very small for the price, especially for the homemade春卷. Their sambal sauce is good, so anything with that is generally ok. Their lala is also ok, heavy taste though. Their chendol is really good, the soul of nyonya cuisine, love the coconut milk they have. This part 4 stars.

This part below 2.5 stars. Went at about 12pm during the weekend for their breakfast menu, specially meesiam and laksa. But said sold out.

Fried Kueh was not heated.

The boy at the counter sometimes went into the kitchen and make drinks for customers, but was not on mask. He took our order and we told him it's wrong, then he went back to the counter doing his own stuff and without telling us whether it's resolved. In the end the order was still sent wrong. Therefore, we waited and waited for the toast, still not served. We decided to make a move and cancelled the order.

I love peranakan / nonya food, and I understand the effort and time that goes into making the ingredients or sauces.

I have to say that their dishes are really authentic, with very reasonable size portions. The large portions are not that more expensive, so if u prefer a larger one, I strongly suggest going for it. We did for certain dishes.

Only had the chance to try their typical dishes like kueh pie tee, Ayam buah keluak, nonya steam fish and typical nonya vegetables. They were all so good, and friends that tried nonya food for the first time were so amazed at the flavours. They licked all the plates clean.
