There’s a reason this place was nearly empty while others in the area were buzzing. I made the mistake of not checking their reviews beforehand—and unfortunately, it showed.
The food was below average for the price they charge. The stir-fried spicy minced pork brinjal was overly salty and soggy from overcooking. The Char Kuay Teow had potential but was let down by a lack of key ingredients like Chinese sausage, prawns, and clams—it felt like a cut-cost version of a classic dish. The only highlight was the sweet and sour pork, which was crispy and well-executed.
The biggest letdown was the steamed fish. It was clearly overcooked, making it difficult to even serve as the meat wouldn’t come off the bones. This was especially frustrating given how expensive the dish was—we expected far better.
To make matters worse, the service was inattentive and unprofessional. The staff seemed disinterested and unsure of what to do. For a restaurant that prices itself at a premium, the quality—both in food and service—was shockingly poor.
I won’t be returning, and I would advise others to think twice before...
Read moreThis is an update on this place, the last post was a year ago. Had this on 10 Aug 2024. The food is very good. Had the dim sum for breakfast. The fried carrot cake is 10/10. It’s unlike anything we can find in Singapore. The individual radish cake pieces are cooked to a crispy texture. It is slightly spicy with the eggs given in abundance. It’s really a must try. The nanyang coffee is also very nice, like the Great Nanyang Hor Ka Sai. The mango and shrimp roll is crispy and tasty, worth a try for those who like mango prawn rolls. I bought the har kow and Siew Mai, both I rate 4/5, it’s not bad for this price point. The shrimp cheong fun is 3/5, the texture is not bad but the sauce can be more flavorful. Overall it’s a nice place to go to for breakfast dim sum. There are too many food items to order and we can’t order all cos it’s very filling but definitely worth going again. Price is...
Read moreThe restaurant opens on 10am, we reached after 10:30am, we wanted normal white chicken (not the kampung chicken), char siu , roasted pork & chicken liver, but their waitress replied very rudely that they are all not ready yet. When asked how long do we have to wait for the items to be ready, she didn't wanna help us ask the kitchen, just said not sure when will it can be ready. We actually didn't mind waiting 15-20 mins for the food to be ready. (We ordered other food, so we saw that the food we wanted was available just 15-20 mins later.) Please don't put your business time on 10am if most of your menu is not ready. It's really a 忘不了...
