Arrived for dinner at about 9.20pm. Was told last order is 9.30pm and they are closing at 10pm. There were still several tables of diners. Placed our orders and food arrived pretty quickly (I suppose because they were closing soon). Here’s where things started going wrong:
First two bowls arrived. Staff placed the bowls on the table and left without telling us what they were. If u have eaten there before, u know it’s literally the same type of bowl with just different types of fish. We asked and the staff themselves had difficulty telling us. Needed to go back to kitchen to clarify. Next two bowls arrived and this time the staff told us what they were serving us.
Around 9.45pm, they started scrubbing the floor at the section next to us with water and detergent. They weren’t mopping the floor, they were scrubbing it like how you wash a toilet. And the smell of the detergent was so strong that I felt like I was eating in a toilet. Not exaggerating here. Also, it’s rude to start such intensive cleaning of the dining area when your customers are still eating during operating hours. I joked with my companions that the boss must not pay his staff OT, seeing how eager they are to pack up.
Close to 10pm, they started scrubbing our section very close to our table. My friend’s shopping bag was on the floor and it nearly got wet by their dirty water. We had just settled the bill and were finishing our drinks. Is it their passive aggressive way of chasing customers away so they can shut the store on the dot at 10pm?
Food: Fish soup tasted alright without msg taste but they aren’t very generous with fish portion. Fish belly which my friend ordered did not seem like fish belly at all. Did not have the gelatin and oily texture that belly has. Tasted more like fish meat instead. Squid was slightly mushy and wasn’t fresh. Same goes for the prawn in the signature seafood dry noodles we ordered. The side dishes we ordered were not impressive. Personal opinion is while the food is not that bad, it’s not worthy of the Michelin rating either. We spent RM213 for a group of 4.
Overall, weighing the poor experience I had vs the quality of the food, it’s a major turn off and I do not plan to return in the near future. Perhaps they should change their operating hours to 9.30pm so they can finish cleaning up and shut the...
Read more21 October 2025 Back for the second time during lunch hours, and a table for two required about a 15–20 minute wait.
We tried the Common Parrot Fish and Spanish Mackerel Fish Soup. The Parrot Fish was tender, while the Spanish Mackerel had a texture similar to Batang fish. One of our soups came with a milk base, and it had a nice XO flavour to it!
We also ordered the fried beancurd, though I’m not sure if it was served correctly — it tasted more like fried fishcake than tofu.
29 March 2025 Before 5 pm on a Saturday, this place is already bustling with a crowd, and I can imagine it gets even busier later in the evening.
The restaurant is air-conditioned with plenty of tables, making it a comfortable spot to dine. Inside, there’s also a Market Place where you can buy fresh fish and seafood keropok. A salesperson mentioned that their fresh fish is great for steaming, and they offer services like vacuum packing, cleaning, scaling, and even cutting the fish into different portions upon request. There are reference guides at the counter to help you decide.
At the Market Place, I spotted a fish with blue scales and later realized it was a Parrot Fish—its mouth, resembling a parrot’s beak, was a giveaway.
For food, I tried the Mixed Seafood without noodles or congee. You can choose from three soup bases: clear, milk, or tomato, with the latter two costing an extra RM2. If you opt for congee, it only comes with the clear soup. They ran out of lala today, so they replaced it with bamboo clam instead. The portion of seafood is quite reasonable for the price.
I initially felt a dismayed when I saw the crab, thinking I’d have to struggle with cracking it open. But to my surprise, they had already pre-cracked it. Just a little pressure was enough to break the shell, making it easy to get to the meat.
An interesting dish to try is the Jellyfish Iceplant. The ice plant is extremely crunchy, adding a unique texture to the dish. However, if you have a peanut allergy, this might not be for you, as it’s topped with a mix of sesame seeds and crushed peanuts. The flavor is reminiscent of rojak, with a sweet black sauce—definitely worth...
Read moreUpdate from visit 25 Dec 24 Had the mixed seafood soup with kway teow. They added way too much kway teow that it soaked up most of the soup and made the remaining soup super bland. Amount of seafood seems to have been reduced too. Only saw 2 pieces of squid which was als o not fresh. Hopefully it's a one off issue but shld have some QC.
July 2024 There is a counter on the right when u enter where a guy is calling out Q numbers. Tell him no. Of pax and he will give a Q number card. Head to the left side where there are menus strewn all over and There are staff with something like iPads. Tell them your queue number and your orders. Wait close enough to hear the guy calling your Q number and they will show u your table.
You need to place your orders in step 2 in order for them to show you your table. They should actually make a sign on the steps.
Was there for lunch at 1pm on a weekday and there was still a queue of abt 10+ groups ahead. But waited for Abt 15min so it was pretty fast.
Had the mixed seafood soup with noodles and soup with milk. Loved it. Quite a huge bowl though, if you are small eaters u might want to share the noodles, although I would still recommend getting your own soup cos is so good! Mixed seafood has loads of stuff- fish, sotong, cuttlefish, crab, clams. I personally liked the soup with milk and if u love coriander, shallots and hua diao wine, u will love the milk version!!! Super yums and they did not stinge on the hua diao wine. Seafood was also fresh.
Appetisers were also good. I liked the prawn paste fish. So instead of prawn paste chicken it's prawn paste fish chunks. But was v nice and served with a tangy chilli sauce. (Sorry took some before taking the photo so it shld be more)
Soft shell crab was ok for me. Can't really tell is soft shell crab, Prob it has abit more batter than crab. But still it wasn't too bad. The lilac colour dipping sauce is some mayo/salad sauce
They also the prawn crackers at rm17 per pack. It looks fresh based on the colour but I have not tried. Overall I can understand why it's on Michelin bib gourmand....
