Without reading any reviews, my brother and i decided to just park by the main road and patronise this house-turned shop restaurant. We ordered their "famous" kota bak-kut-teh with addition of small pig intestines. Added a claypot of braised pork trotters and complete it with salted vegetables and "you tiao". The bak-kut bones are short and tasted dry and flaky but the soup is overwhelmingly smothered with spices and herbs and sugar. It really tasted like "sugar herbal bak-kut soup". The claypot pig trotters were a disappointment and disaster. The meat was drained of its juices(like it was extracted of juices and boiled again). It was coarse, dry and tasteless. The white rice served was wet and clumpy and both my brother and I suffered massive stomach indigestion the whole day after consuming it. The only saving grace was the tender and juicy pig intestines and the salted veggies, which were just nice and not overly salty. This restaurant employs a lot of foreigners and though i only saw them serving, i certainly hope the owner would not let them cook the food for us because they would have NO IDEA how bak-kut-teh is supposed to taste like. Nope, wont be going back...
Read moreWe went as a group of 4. We wanted to order bak kut teh and dry bak kut teh. Since we were not familiar with the portion, we asked a guy from the shop how much to order. He suggested 2 portion of soup and 1 portion of dry. In the end 3 portion of soup was served. When we checked with him, he told me that I've pointed to the wrong picture so he ordered the one I pointed instead. We were confused. Didn't we verbally agreed on what to order? If he ordered based on what I pointed then what's the point of me confirming with him verbally? In the end, we were charged for another portion of dry bak kut teh.
Service aside, their pork was tough and will get stucked in your teeth. Please do not order their 梅菜. It is basically tasteless.
It is the first time I was so disappointed with Malaysia's bak kut teh. It has never failed...

Ordered a number of different dishes to try. Bak kut teh herbal soup was really good. Loved it. Meat was tender and it was served with tau kee and mushroom which you do not need to add any more extra unless you really enjoy eating tau kee.
Ordered a mix of pig innards of pig livers, intestine and kidney. This was really nice, the innards were clean and had no smell. Soup that it came with can skip.
A bowl of pig trotters as well, not too bad, had a bit of vinegary taste to it. Braised sauce could be more fragrant.
Sesame chicken wasn't that tasty. I do not recommend this but you can try to believe.
Can skip the otah also.
Dry bak kut teh was really fragrant but slightly wet.
Overall it is a good place to have herbal bkt. Will...
