鱼片米粉汤 (Sliced Fish Beehoon Soup) = RM9.00 1 Hot Kopi-O = RM1.80
This place is called "Kedai Makanan Jadi Baru Botak" on Google Maps, and the actual place actually comprises of 3 Different Signboards together:
Kedai Minuman Jadi Baru Botak Kedai Makanan Jadi Baru Botak Restoran Ah Bee
The actual name of the Shop is quite humourous as I had a Malay Colleague help translate it as "Shop Eat Become New Bald" or "Eat at this Shop and you will go Bald" LOL!! (Point your fingers at him if the translation is wrong hahaha~)
Its a Huge 3 Coffee-Shops Sized Area yet only have 1 Tze Char Stall + 1 Drinks Stall and nothing else. It's quite fascinating to see a Tze Char stall open for Breakfast tbh.
It's not crowded, though there were quite a number of people in the morning. I had absolutely no idea what to order but as most people seemed to order Sliced Fish Beehoon Soup so I ordered the same.
It was quite a Large Bowl too. Amount of Beehoon is Generous and there were about 6 Thick Cut Slices of Fish which I thought felt quite generous too. Fish Pieces were soft to the Bite and very enjoyable to eat. Throughout the whole meal, there were no 鱼腥味. It was a very clean tasting dish.
Even without Soy Sauce added, I'd say this Soup is 清甜 and just the Right amount of Saltiness. It's not amazing but is nice and tastes very similar to our SG Fishball Soup. It was so nice to drink, I drank it to the last drop.
The amount of Beehoon is what made me the most satisfied. I can't help but cynically compare a similar SG version of this dish which would surely be over-priced and much more stingy with its ingredients in comparison. Heck in fact this may be the first Sliced-Fish Beehoon Soup that I felt actually satisfied my hunger.
The Cup of Kopi-O was Fragrant and Strong. Perfect start for a Day.
The Folks manning this place were Friendly too. After chit-chatting awhile, I found that their Specialty is actually Assam Pedas (Assam Fish Head Claypot). I'll be sure to re-visit them again in the future for this one!
If you want a Hot Soupy Breakfast and don't feel like eating the Lovely Tin & Tin Beef Noodles which is just nearby at Restoran Shang Ji, I can totally recommend the Sliced Fish Beehoon Soup here too. They are a Tze Char stall, so even if you don't want that, you can totally try something else.
I mean c'mon just the name of this place is ADORABLE in itself: "Eat at this Shop and you will go Bald" LOL!!

Let me wag you into the world of Kedai Makan Jadi Baru Botak, which loosely translates to “Become Newly Bald”—and yes, the name is as legendary as the dishes they serve. You’d think the owner lost his hair from the heat of the kitchen… or maybe from too many royal visits, because guess what? This humble spot is frequented by none other than the Sultan of Johor himself. That’s right—real crown, real curry.
Now, don’t expect Michelin-star glamour—this place serves up home-style, pork-free comfort food with a royal-worthy flair. The star of the show? Their Assam Pedas Fish—so fresh it probably did a few laps before hitting the pot. The curry’s tangy, fiery, and full of soul—just like my bark when someone touches my bowl. 🔥🐟
I personally come here (well, technically, I wait outside while my hooman feasts) for: 🥬 The stir-fried vegetables—so good, my hooman still can’t replicate it at home. 🍳 The fluffy omelette—egg-cellently done every time. 🐟 And yes, the Assam Pedas—tongue-tingling, tear-worthy, and totally worth the trip.
Now, let’s talk about the Botak in the room. The owner himself is bald, and true to the name, he’s a bit… standoffish. Maybe it’s the stress of fame, or maybe the royal connection comes with royal mood swings. But thankfully, his sons are more down-to-earth and approachable, with a smile and a “what’ll you have?” that makes you feel a little less like you’re crashing a royal dinner.
So here’s the bottom line: At Jadi Baru Botak, you may not get warm conversation from the top (of his head or personality), but you will get food that’s full of flavor and famously fit for a king.
And hey—if you leave with a full belly and a little less hair from all that curry heat, don’t say they didn’t warn you. 😉

Read moreThis place is always crowded when we patronize the famous Tin Tin Beef Noodle next door. We went on a Saturday to try out but it was super crowded and was told about 30 minutes waiting time. We decided to go somewhere else for lunch. We returned today (Monday) and it was still busy but there was available table. We ordered their famous Asam Fish (snapper), deep fried Mayao Fish and stir fried sweet potato leaves, with two plain rice and two sour plum with lime juice. Honestly, the Asam Fish which is supposed to be their signature dish turned out to be “so so” and unimpressive. What was worst was that a small portion of simple stir fried sweet potato leaves cost RM12 where other restaurants we went was only RM7 for small portion of sweet potato leaves. Total cost for what we ordered was RM96 for two of us with only 3 dishes!!! Having said that, the deep fried Mayao Fish was tasty and crispy. We left with disappointment to learn that this place is definitely overhyped and overpriced. If you’re looking for a decent Tze Char Place with more variety of food, we recommend you to check out Teck Sing Restaurant at Taman Sentosa. If you’re craving for Asam Fish, go check out Dulang Lima Cafe or Restaurant Nyonya Treats Cuisine at Taman Perling with more variety of palatable dishes with spices. Obviously, we will not return to this place since it is not worth the waiting time and not good...
