First time dining at L.Table by Lavender
Ordered the all day set menu with an additional side dish of calamari.
The lemongrass chicken wing is great, well season and fried with the right texture.
The calamari, the squid legs are crispy and succulent but the body section are slight over cooked and the texture is on the rubbery side. (The sauce for the calamari is also on the heavy side, could consider a tangy/citrus sauce to pair with the calamari.
The mushroom soup, is good but the texture of the soup is too coarse for my liking and it could use a-bit more salt to season.
Main course The Aglio Olio with prawn is the best dish for the night. Spaghetti is al dente, the seasoning is on point. The dish is overall quite spicy maybe less spicy and a hint of parsley and a few drop of lemon juice will help elevate the dish as a whole. Prawn is also well cooked, tender and season with the right amount of salt.
The salmon and black olive fried rice, is quite dissapointing, as the rice is too soft to be used to cook a fried rice and the black olive is not really complementing the rice itself. Suggest to swap the fried rice with a mash/sautรฉed potatoes hash will make it a better dish.
The salmon is well cook but the vegetables cook used alittle more browning and salt as the texture of the vegetables are on the dryer side and bland thus a knob of butter and salt will help. The corn is good.๐๐ป
Lemon tea is quite diluted, more intense tea flavour will be good.
Overall, service is great servers are attentive and friendly. The meal was good but, left some feedback above for the kitchen ๐.
Looking forward to trying the...
ย ย ย Read moreWas at L Table for a quick dinner, would like to highlight on the attentiveness of the restaurant manager as there was a table of 2 bimbotic hags who were extremely loud and unpleasant, the manager helped shift us to a different table.
Food review: Tried the truffle burger today, the texture of the beef patty felt like it was just being defrosted and it was overall grainy.
The crust/batter of the onion ring is crispy but the part of onion used is the most exterior portion of the onion and makes it very difficult to chew as it is very firm. (Fully understand the thought of utilizing all the parts of the onion but would highly appreciate that this part be used as a marinade or for making stocks. Very small slice of cheese was provided, do at least provide a full slice of cheese. ๐
Calamari is good crispy and well cooked. Mushroom soup is good, well seasoned but it could help with a reduction of a little salt.
The Cajun chicken pasta is the best item for today. It was welled seasoned and sauced. (had this dish 2 days ago and it was under seasoned with insufficient sauce)
Things to improve on: Onion ring (onion part) Beef patty (execution) Burger (larger slice of cheese)
Praises: Excellent and attentive service from the team at L.Table today kudos...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat a surprising find for a restaurant! Just right above the famous Lavender bakery, you will discover this beautifully set up restaurant. The setting of the diner was so appropriate for Christmas, Christmas decorations everywhere with just the right amount of subtlety. The accompanying music piped in was just perfect.
Now, for the food; we couldn't ask for more. Other than the slightly colder squid ink pasta, the food was exquisite. The seafood was fresh and lightly seasoned. The pasta was not soggy, but at the right texture for us. We found the cold pasta with prawns a perfect start for dinner. If I need to find a needle in the haystack, just to complain, the ingredients could be a little more generous. We wanted to try the apple pie and unfortunately for us, it was sold out. What a shame! It must be one of the celebrated desserts in the restaurant.
The waiting staff was attentive and fast. They provided the right amount of information on the food and informed us about a โLiveโ Band playing in the restaurant on Wednesday and Friday. The crew were terrific.
If you want a fun and enjoyable evening, you wouldn't be disappointed in...
