Lavender Bakery in Johor Bahru is a beloved destination for both locals and visitors seeking high-quality baked goods, elegant desserts, and a cozy café experience. With several outlets across the city, the flagship store in Taman Pelangi stands out for its spacious two-story layout, combining a bakery, café, and the stylish L.Table restaurant upstairs.
Bakery & Pâtisserie
Lavender’s bakery prides itself on using premium ingredients, including imported Japanese flour and natural yeast starters, to craft a wide variety of European breads and Asian buns. Their pastries are made with high-quality butter and contain no added preservatives or artificial fillers. Signature items include the Coconut Bun with gula melaka molasses, the Lychee Cheesecake made with imported lychees, and the popular pandan roll. Customers also rave about their macarons, cookies, and traditional treats like cake lapis and pineapple tarts, which are handmade daily using locally sourced ingredients.
Café & L.Table Restaurant
The ground floor café offers a selection of pastries and drinks, perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely afternoon tea. Upstairs, L.Table provides a more extensive dining experience with a menu that includes dishes like scallop pesto pasta, truffle beef burgers, and salmon broccoli salad. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Portions are generous, and the presentation is often praised by diners.
Service & Atmosphere
While many customers commend the friendly and attentive service, especially in the café and restaurant areas, there have been occasional reports of less satisfactory experiences at the bakery counter. Some patrons have noted instances of staff being less approachable or exhibiting impatience during busy periods. However, these seem to be exceptions rather than the norm, and overall, the establishment maintains a reputation for quality service.

Read moreWe always try to have a meal whenever we cross over JB from Woodlands. Hence a 5 star based on our actions! Foodwise, a 4 star rating but mind you, we will keep coming.
They sell delicious assortments of bread and their mouth watering cheese tart on the ground floor, and have a 60+ seater restaurant upstairs.
Nicely and warmly decorated with live music on Fridays (perhaps even on Week ends), the restaurant is a good chill out place for both young and old. Their service, from the security guard to the waiters, is fantastic.
One small thing that I appreciate is that they serve all food at about the same time.
Their three dips with toasted baguette (RM 18) was served with 4/5 pieces of garlic baguette and 3 housemade dipping sauces. Would have loved more baguette! Frankly, the complimentary focassia warn bread was better. I preferred the olive tapenade but the tomato salsa was a classic while pesto dipping was too salty.
The creamy mushroom fettuccine (RM22) with salmon (RM11) was deliciously creamy but not sinfully rich.
I particularly loved the Har Jiong Chicken burger (RM22); quite unique. Well done chicken (2 pieces) with a crispy batter. I loved the shrimp paste taste. But the included 1 sliced grilled pineapple was too big and sweet for me. I d prefer a pineapple sauce to provide a more uniformed taste. The chilli sauce was also a bit off but it did pack...

My recent visit to this quaint bakery left me with mixed feelings, but one thing's for sure - the cakes stole the show. Let's start with the positives. The ambience at Lavender Bakery is undeniably delightful. Soft hues of lavender complemented by cosy seating arrangements create an inviting atmosphere perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment alone. However, my excitement dwindled when I perused through their drinks menu. While the selection was limited, what disappointed me most was the lack of flavour in the drinks I sampled. It seemed as though they were missing that special touch that elevates a simple beverage into a memorable experience. But fear not, because where Lavender Bakery truly shines is in its cakes. Each slice is a masterpiece of flavour and texture, showcasing the skill and passion of the bakers behind the counter. From classic favourites to innovative creations, there's something to satisfy every sweet tooth. On the facilities front, Lavender Bakery offers restroom facilities, albeit with a slight inconvenience. With only one stall available each for both male and female patrons on the lower level, there might be a bit of a wait during peak hours. I believe upstairs might have...
