Wei Lai Spicy Hotpot - Mount Austin 味来重慶香辣煲 — Restaurant in Johor

I’m reviewing based on Singaporean tastebud so it could be different from the locals. But anyway, it is an interesting concept which u enjoy the first round of the hotpot with the chosen ingredient, and after finishing most of it, request to pour their soup(spicy/no spicy choice) and boil them with your hotpot ingredients.

We chose the prawn, and we loved how the prawn was marinated, but it was a little “weird” that there is French fries in it. Which isn’t commonly found in hotpot. Didn’t finish that though, even when we have it filled up with soup.

Honestly the food taste wasn’t too much to liking as the soup was too thick and savoury (would need to have rice to pair well), but my friend loves the soup, so on her behalf, will rate this place a 5 stars, especially because the service is also amazing and 100000/10!! Everyone is SUPER friendly and welcoming, patient and nice with us despite our multiple requests and etc. this is probably one of the most memorable place with the best service! Highly recommended!

Also, you can bring your Lok Lok that is across the street to eat here too, so that’s a bonus!

We ordered the small chicken hotpot but ended up wishing we had gone for the larger size. The portion was a little too small for two people, so I’d recommend opting for the bigger pot instead. Initially, we were a bit skeptical since the restaurant was quite empty when we walked in around 12:20pm—likely because it had just opened. However, the hotpot turned out to be surprisingly good and exceeded our expectations. To top it off, they served ice cream for dessert at the end of the meal! Tried the spicy chicken hotpot at this place, and it was awesome! The broth was packed with flavor and had just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender and soaked up all that tasty goodness. Plus, they gave free ice cream at the end, which was perfect after all the spice. The small portion is pretty small, so I’d recommend going for the bigger size if you’re hungry. The ambiance isn't the chill kind, but it's very spacious since the restaurant is two-storey.
