Mr Duck is an excellent place to experience the savoury taste of authentic teochew dishes, located near the popular leisure mall at Cheras.
The food served is indeed an amazing experience for the taste buds. The main star of the show, braised duck meat, is soft and succulent, drenched in gravy that goes well with both rice and porridge. I also recommend exploring the pork option, with choices ranging from meat to various parts (ears, intenstines, etc) for the adventurous. I am particularly fond of okra, better known as ladyfingers, which was prepared in a 'sticky' manner just to my liking.
Service was brisk as the place was crowded. I was informed that the items in the menu move rather quickly, so do go earlier at the various dining timings listed to avoid disappointment. The kitchen is done up in an open concept behind a glass wall, so preparation of your orders is done in full view for all to see. The way I see it, the preparation of the dishes is done hygienically and professionally in a swift manner.
The shop inside is bright and extremely clean with aircon. However, if you prefer to dine out, there are also limited sitting options available outside. This eatery can accommodate large family settings easily, which I was there for a meet up with my family of close to 20 people.
My verdict, do yourself a favour and try out Mr Duck if you happen to be near the area. Why settle for...

For a long time, I always think that Kam Heong in PJ State serves the best braised duck in town. That was about to change when I made a trip to Cheras for the same dish. I have heard from the picky elderlies that this particular braised duck trumped Kam Heong which piqued my interest.
Located in Wisma Aman Elite, they have parking in the basement - do not attempt to park by road side unless you want to risk being summoned. We were the only diners as it wasn't lunch time yet.
◾Set B - 1/4 Drumbstick, Pork Belly, Pig Intestine, Salted vege, Egg (2) Tofu (1) RM52.90. The duck meat was smooth and the braised sauce was really something else.. packed with flavour and enhanced the overall flavour of the already excellent duck! Pork belly was commendable while intestine was soft & QQ too; salted vege has got to be one of the better versions. ◾Paid RM5 for 2 pax of Tie Guan Yin
Leo's verdict - honestly the braised duck here IS really BETTER than Kam Heong but it's personal taste ya. Make a trip here just for the duck - they do have roast duck but...
Read moreI first discovered Mr Duck-Teowchew Braised upon a recommendation from a colleague, and I have since visited on multiple occasions. Each time, I find myself impressed by the unwavering consistency and quality of their dishes.
The braised duck is unquestionably the star of the menu: tender meat in a rich, savoury gravy, perfectly complemented by a tangy chilli sauce. The braised pork belly is equally noteworthy, with its delicate balance of flavours and pleasingly tender texture. Although the braised tofu can be somewhat salty, it still appeals to those who enjoy more robust seasoning.
I was also captivated by the okra, served with a generous sprinkling of crispy garlic, which lends both a delightful crunch and a fragrant garlicky aroma. To round off the meal, the lady boss suggested her sister’s handmade osmanthus honey tofu fa, topped with red bean, cincau, and taro balls. The portion was just right—lightly sweet without being cloying—though I would have...
