Came here to try out the viral Giant Croissant. Note that you need to contact the cafe at least 2 days prior for the Giant Croissant to book and also pay for it. Everything else will be ordered and pay when you come in. I paid RM 63.80 just for the Giant Croissant when I came (price may change so do check with them via WhatsApp).

Coming into the cafe you can definitely feel it's on the higher end. The cafe itself is nicely designed. They greet you at the door together with their bakery goods offerings in the glass box looking delicious.

Since we're here on booking for the Giant Croissant, one of the staff escorted us to our table and provide us with the physical menu in which you can access on their IG and website. The order is made by the customer after scanning the QR code at the table itself.

We decided to hold ourselves back from ordering any foods as we wanted to see if we are still hungry after eating the Giant Croissant shared by the two of us, or if we can even finish the meal in the first place.

For drinks, we ordered 3 from their refresher line; Berry Pomelo Fizz, Butterful Garden, and Ice Lemon Tea.

The berry pomelo fizz is a sour carbonated drink. The hint of berry flavor is nice but probably overpowered by the shear sour taste and the carbonated effect. So it takes the last place between the three but still good regardless.

The second place goes to the good old safe Ice Lemon Tea in which they manage to not make it bad like some restaurants and cafes do.

The winner here is the Butterful Garden. It is essentially a butterfly flower tea with a drop of passion fruit on the bottom. Surprisingly the passion fruit was not sour like most other restaurants and cafes. It blends well with the butterfly flower tea and make a cohesive drink altogether.

Now to the main course, the Giant Croissant itself. At first glance on the social media, you would probably think you can eat it by yourself if you know how croissants are made. You'll be surprised. It is serve with two complimentary condiments; unsalted butter bits, and vanilla cream.

The outer shell of the croissant looks shiny but for me a little bit too dry or overcooked in a way. To my surprise, the inside are very soft and buttery so it definitely make up for the dryness of the outer shell. The inside however, probably due to the shear size of it being so huge, is not as elegant looking as normal croissant whereas it collaspe on itself because they're too heavy.

Cutting into the croissant you can immediately make a mess of your table with how flaky the croissant is. It is a bit hard to cut through the more you go with the normal provided cutlery the the layers would combine themselves and make it a bit harder to be cut on the bottom portion of the croissant.

The provided side butter bein unsalted just add the buttery texture without enhancing the flavor. Maybe they're giving less premium butter? So it doesn't really do much if you just add the buttery on its own.

The vanilla cream on the other hand, is really good. Not too sweet and there's plenty of vanilla flavor to be tasted. You can either dip the croissant or spread it. If you combine it with the butter you get a really...

New Cafe in the city - 3-Stars for now because the coffee wasn’t up to expectations. Hope they get it right soon

Whenever a new cafe opens, I will make it a point to visit it once. Barely a week old, I'd already made my way to BlackBixon Cafe located in the city centre when the minister suggested to eat at somewhere we have not tried before. Didn't know what the crowd was going to be like so I decided to hit the road early.

It proved to be a wise decision - not many patrons yet so I could afford to take more nice photos after placing my order. Ground and first floor have been tastefully decorated and fitted with nice furnitures and some tables upstairs can accommodate bigger groups - they even have private room for more intimate dining affairs.

Ordering has been made easier via QR code placed on the table hence eliminate the need for waiter/waitress or even walk straight up to the counter.

◾Blackbixon Big Breakfast RM28 - choice of eggs (scrambled egg in this case which was done competently.. good grief!); Artisanal chicken sausage, crusted hash brown, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans, grilled tomatoes and charcoal sourdough. ◾Potato Hash RM20 - pan fried potatoes with beef bacon bits, sunny side up egg, arugula and garnished with greens. One scoop and he loved the dish and glad he ordered it. ◾Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast RM33 - mashed avocado with cream cheese spread over toasted charcoal sourdough, topped with smoked salmon and a touch of alfalfa. Not much avocado could be tasted because cream cheese was a lot. ◾salted egg charcoal croissant - nicely done and the elderly was seen tucking happily into her order. ◾Pesto ham & cheese twisted Danish pastry - a bit hard (actually quite hard for me as well) for the youngest daughter to chew which was a bummer because the taste was good. Oh yes.. the ham was very dry too.

◾Coffee - for someone who love coffee, I found this as the weakest link of all which was a bummer... The flat white was rather bland with strong milky taste, while my long black had this unpleasant bitter aftertaste.

Hope that they can get everything right soon.

I can totally understand that the service needs time to fine tune as the cafe was just few days old, and the service crews were trying their best to make us...

Very cozy ambient provided no group gathering because it will be very noisy ... Reservation is required for upstairs seats n make a booking on peak hours to get a better air conditioner seating area ... the area at the side of the shop is very hot in the afternoon which needs more air conditioner units but it's alright at night ... Foods are quite tasty ... The chicken meat use in the burger, schnitzel n pasta is very juicy n crispy because of the bread crumbs ... The charcoal latte n the monochrome are nice ... using 100% arabica dark roast bean with a strong full bodied ...very smooth coffee ... Pricing is on middle n middle high ... They also sell a coffee machine using their own capsule which is consists of 5 type of capsule i.e. coffee,Choco,v-creamer,energy n nutritional...their coffee capsule is 100% arabica too ... very smooth without bitter n sour taste ... Recently I have tried their Matcha Cruffin which is very nice ... Croissant skin with kaw kaw (thick) matcha inside ... Skin is crispy n Matcha taste is strong ... Today 140225 I went there to celebrate Valentine's Day and to my surprise the overall foods are quite nice n a cozy ambient n quiet environment with a live band singing some sentimental songs n playing some slow instrumental songs which is quite suitable to celebrate such occasion ... The decoration is nice ... A stalk of flower n a mini teddy bear which makes this event a bit special ... The Starter ... Grilled Romaine is nice n tasty ... quite balanced with the garlic parmesan crumbs... The Pumpkin Soup is just nice n thick ... The Chicken Roulade is nice with some chicken rolled with spinach n carrot n the grilled baked potato is nice too ... The Salmon is nice n fresh ... Beside it is some spinach quinoa ,capsicum, zucchini which I tasted like a multi grain or cereal kind of texture n I found some roe in it which makes the whole combination tasted quite nice ... The Desserts is okay but the topping of raspberry is quite sweet for me ... Conclusion ... This Valentine's event is quite nice n complete ... worth trying n...
