Very disappointing experience I had during my visit to your restaurant on Friday around 4:30 PM for tea. The shop wasn’t particularly crowded at the time, and I noticed some tables were left uncleared even after customers had left. I had to call a few times before someone came to clean up the table I was about to use.

I ordered appam and coffee. While the appam was served, the coffee never arrived. I followed up with a few different staff members who kept saying it was “coming,” but unfortunately, it never did.

What upset me most was the response I received when I mentioned the missing coffee to the staff member at the payment counter. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or offering an apology, he told me in a rather dismissive tone that “there will be plus and minus, you have to adjust, either wait or just leave”.There was no thank you or any sense of courtesy. he simply handed me the change with a sour expression and walked away.

I left the restaurant feeling shocked and disappointed. As a customer, I understand that mistakes can happen, but I believe the way they are handled matters a lot. Unfortunately, this experience has made me think twice...

Chelos has been around for ages... Its a go to spot for anyone when they have a craving for sweet appams. Food quality used to be amazing when it was still a stall (during early 2000)

However in recent years (ie especially post covid) the food quality has dropped and the system to order and serve food has been bad. No proper que for ordering and getting it delivered to your table. This was the case even when they were having a stall and managing lesser number of customers vs. today.

Now that they have opened a restaurant, they should at least be more organized and improve the service and food quality. Also the ambience of the restaurant was decent but stuffy! My friends & I were sitting at the entrance of the restaurant to get some air and yet, we were sweating away due to poor air ventilation in the restaurant, stuffiness.

My visit to the restaurant on 1/1/25 was a huge dissapointment. Will never go back to this restaurant because of their bad service...

Visited the shop today 17th Sept (Tuesday) around 845pm. We are their loyal customers for 30 years. We only got a seat outside the shop as the shop was full house. Waited for almost 15 to 20 minutes but nobody came to take our order despite us calling them to take order. Finally the boy (who is actually the owner's son) came to take order and when he saw our table dirty he said he will get a cloth to wipe it and went missing thereafter.

We saw him at the cash counter talking to his mother and we called him again he acknowledged but never came (when confronted the excuse he gave was he got carried away with others orders).

Finally we decided to leave to next shop and when we got up to move the owner lady did see us from the cash counter yet still didn't make any attempt to stop us.

So in a nutshell, we are no longer going to visit this shop anymore as we find their service is very bad and their workers are not...

Finally I got to eat my favourite desserts after 2 yrs. New venue but still yummy as before. Crispy edges (slightly burnt would be even better) and mushy at the center. As always I ended up eating 2 pieces...the original and the brown sugar flavour. Sweet and slightly sourish (fermentation of the dough) at the same time. Actually I can eat more, if not for having dhosai too. We shared masala dhosai and a plain one. Served with lovely vegetarian curries and thick coconut chutney...unlike some shops which have watery chutney. The teh tarik was good too...if you ask to reduce the sweetness. Less crowd now than those days at the old venue. Maybe because shop is on 1st floor. Older folks may not want to walk up the flight of stairs. The 2nd outlet is at the newly built stalls by the side but more to selling snacks like kuih and local cakes. Will be back.

A standalone Southern Indian dessert house - the equivalent of a chinese 'sweet water' shop. Appam and other tasty snacks await. Comfortable dine-in environment. I sat in front so to order directly from kakak over the fire stove. Ordering and payment can be improved - you know table numbers, QR scan to order, cooking based on a queue and settlement. Plain appams are great on their own. Others like thirs sweet and/or savoury. To each, their own. I took away a few more for my family to sample. Edges not as crispy, but the centre was soft and yummy. All good.

Relocate to unit no.8 of a newly built sheltered shops on the left side before arriving to the previous location. Short handed and no system in the ordering. Aunty wrote our order on a paper but she crumble the paper after that. Everyone was just standing in front of the stall waiting for own order. It’s self service. The table is also filthy dirty with the empty plates and no one is cleaning the tables. We went back to the stall to pay Aunty and she doesn’t know what have we ordered.. brown sugar appam RM2.5, plain appam RM2.
