I'm not an expert on Claypot Chicken Rice but for my taste, Kim Poh does a pretty good version. I've been eating here for maybe about 15 years now and I would say that their taste has remained the same, though prices keep increasing.

Their signature Claypot Chicken rice comes with marinated chicken with slivers of ginger. You can choose to have it with our without Salted Fish, but I prefer to have it included as it gives the added umami flavours. The chicken on its own tends to be somewhat mild muted in taste.

You can also have Chinese Sausage (Larp Cheong) added but these tend to add sweetness only and are not the fragrant variety.

Don't miss their steamed soups as these are generally good. Either the Watercress with Pork soup or the Lotus Root with Peanuts are are good options and are Recommended.

My friend from Ipoh who is more familiar with Kampar Claypot Chicken Rice reckons that the chicken here needs more seasoning and flavour and I would tend to agree with him. However by KL standrads, this is a pretty decent version. Do order the Large claypot size if possible as the Small one tends to burn easily at the bottom due to the small...

I do not agree with the 3.5 rating as this is the best claypot rice I have eaten in KL and some say in Jb and Singapore. The chicken is super tender, the rice is moist and super tasty. The boss is super friendly person which makes me feels at home whenever I'm there. Kim poh deserve a 5 rating. I didn't wait for 35 or 40 mins even though my orders were always special order. Usually it's a 15 mins wait because he cooked fresh from charcoal which is why it has that authentic claypot taste. Give it a try, my friend u...

When I was a kid, whenever we wanted claypot chicken rice, this is the place we’d go to but tonight’s taste left us a little disappointed. You’ve the option of order small or large portion with salted fish and/or lap cheong, plus egg or without. Also they have the standard Chinese lettuce with oyster sauce. If you want some double boiled Chinese herbal soups, they have it too. This time, my family order 2 small claypot, 1 soup and 1 large vege and it all come up to RM 56. Decent price for a nearby home style with...

This place is a hidden gem. Had my friend not brought me there, I wouldn't have known. Their speciality is claypot chicken rice. As it is a dish I enjoy cooking, I am more critical about it. The chicken is super on point. Cooked to perfection - juicy, "smooth," and tender. The flavour of the gravy is fragrant with ginger juice (but not overpowering) and delicious. There was a balance of "lap cheong" and salted fish, too. Now I know where to go for claypot chicken rice that suits my taste!
