Read moreMy friend recommended me to try this shop for the viral kunafa. I was there and saw they have another sake shop just directly across the street. Wondering if it's opened just because people are lazy to cross the street? This shop has more people queuing while the one opposite is practically empty. We were lazy to cross because we had pregnant lady and kids. Queued for quite a while to get the orders taken and waited for a while because the kunafas were made to order. I find that it's kinda overrated, nothing special to rave about, definitely tried better ones in the Middle East. I just find it very average, but maybe the good thing is that it is not as crazily sweet as compared to those you eat in the Middle East where they just drench it in the syrup and let the kunafa soak in it. On the other hand, I actually recommend ordering the ice cream instead. We ordered the honey crisp ice cream and everyone liked it. The kunafa also tasted better eating with the ice cream with the extra crunch texture. Price wise the ice cream is reasonable but kunafa is on the expensive side. It's probably worth a try if you want to catch the hype (which is about to die down). Note there are no tables and seats at this stall the ones in front actually belonged to other stalls and you have to get something from other stalls in order to use them. We got no choice the pregnant and kids need to sit so we order fruit juice from the stall next door just to use the...
Read moreYesterday, I bought the viral Mafroukeh Pistachio Kunafa. First of all, it didn’t match the reviews people were giving. It looked different from the pictures, and I was surprised by the presentation. I called one of the staff members and asked, “Why doesn’t the Kunafa look the same as in the pictures? The pistachio sauce is missing on top, and the spices seem different.” He looked at it and told me, “This is Biscoff Kunafa.” The staff aslo look confused I was shocked and asked, “Wait… did you give me the wrong item?” I requested a replacement, and when he came back, he said, “It’s the same Kunafa, just with a different topping. The inside is still pistachio.” At that point, I was just confused. I expected it to look exactly like the viral one! Honestly, I was disappointed and sorry to say the staff all looked professional, but none of them were wearing face masks while working. They were handling food and serving customers, which was concerning. We never know if sweat or anything else might accidentally fall into the...
