I wish I can rate “0” rating and never to come back to this sky-rocket priced meals and cheap quality food from Madras Cafe. It used to be a reputable restaurant with quality servings. Their standards have now dropped significantly and quite horribly to speak. As an Indian myself, is this how you represent our community to the society when it comes to food and health? You guys are lucky my mum did not experience food poisoning as result of your questionable food standards. We wasted RM21.40 just like that through Grabfood order. If I was there personally, I would have demanded more than just compensation and probably take it to the owner of the restaurant. I hope to take up this matter to the Ministry of Health one day if given the chance. Grabfood team could not justify enough evidence I provided to them. Well because we tried eating most of it but felt so disgusted during the dining experience. Probably the worst dining experience from Madras cafe. Spoilt or sourish chutney. Barely could eat the Rawa thosai. Vadai was just fine but slightly oily. The idli had some awful aftertaste. Sambar has the poorest appearance. Watery as if it was like Rasam. Worst! Worst! Worst! We called your team to complaint and all you could do is to say “VERY SORRY”? No refund or anything like that to please your customer? Seriously? Aren’t you guys ashamed of yourself. If you’re guilty, you should do something! Nothing! This is like eating SIN! Don’t run your restaurant then or scam customers like us. Honestly I would not recommend to dine or takeaway from this restaurant. Dine at your risk people. Unless there's some genuine change, these people will not take it serious to help your food experience....
Read moreMadras Cafe is an old guard in the South Indian food scene with its premises located along what is always to me Jalan Ipoh. The proprietor is polite and the servers are extremely courteous and aim to please.
Ambience The restaurant itself has not been updated in many years and so it gives a much dated feel. However, it is clean and there was ample room which is practically unheard during lunch time. It was air conditioned and welcome especially in this heat.
Food The quality of food was quite good. We opted to skip the banana leaf and instead have the mutton Briyani. We order one with two side veggies and it was quite the perfect meal. It was tasty and hit the spot nicely. Service as mentioned earlier was attentive and helpful.
The reasons why they are a three star is the horrendous parking situation for these outlets along this particular road. Where else do you park? Parking is illegal but what choice do one have. The proprietor did advice that should the parking officer come, he would warn is to move the vehicle. So we took a chance, enjoyed the meal but skipped tea so we do not overstay our parking welcome. The other is the dated atmosphere.
I would recommend this place but just be aware of...

If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is a complete nightmare from the moment you step in. It looks like it hasn’t been cleaned or maintained in years — filthy floors, stained walls, and an atmosphere that screams neglect.
The staff? Utterly useless. They barely acknowledge your presence, let alone serve with any decency. Tables are disgustingly dirty and when they do bother to wipe them, they miss the actual spots customers sit at. It’s like they just don’t care.
Now let’s talk about the food — or what’s left of it. I ordered the chicken varuval and got a handful of pathetic, dry scraps that looked like leftovers scraped off someone else’s plate. No flavor, no care, just trash on a plate.
And the Bru coffee? Pure brown water. Zero taste, zero effort. Honestly, I’ve had better coffee at petrol stations.
The final insult? COCKROACH. Yes, crawling on the floor, near the tables. It’s absolutely revolting. The place should be shut down for health violations.
This isn’t just a bad restaurant — it’s a disgrace. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from Madras Cafe at Jalan Ipoh. It’s the worst...
