Visited on the 26th April 2025.

Overall I would definitely revisit for the authentic Thai food and calming environment. Suitable for large or smaller groups, even for corporate events due to the space available.

Things to take note: Kitchen closes at 9.25p.m.(last order), however restaurant closes at 10.30p.m. For those who wants to have early lunch/dinner, making a reservation is highly recommended. Walk-ins may not guarantee any seating unless, you're lucky I guess. The outdoor seating is pretty cooling, worry less. Take- away option is available. Food portion is appropriate to the pricing.

Food: "Stir-Fry Lemongrass Chicken" : The flavor is on point. The spices were on point as well. Recommended to have with white rice. To have it on its own, it will be slightly saltier. "Stir-Fry Rice Noodles with Prawn": Highly recommended. Prawns were huge, well cooked(meaning not overcooked prawns). The prawn preparation made it easy to deshell. The noodles was good although it does require extra chili flakes, salt and crushed peanut for better taste. "Thai Hot & Sour Seafood Soup": aka Tomyam soup. Loved it. Highly recommended. The flavor and the consistency of the soup is perfect. However, i do prefer my soup to be HOT when it reaches the table instead of warm. "Thai Red Ruby in Coconut Milk": Dessert. First time trying, and I would definitely order on my next visit. Honestly enjoyed the coconut milk after after the hearty meal. It manage to cut down the rich flavor of the spice. "Thai Mango Sticky Rice": Average. Would suggest to get other desserts.

Drinks: "Refresher" : A drink with passion fruit. Not my cup of tea. "Basil & Lemongrass" : A drink full of herbs but too much ice. Hence you won't be able to taste the freshness of the drink but instead a extremely watered down lemongrass drink. "Vargin Mary" : One word to describe, Salty. Not my cup of tea.

Environment: Cool due to the fan. A little bit dim, due to the seating provided. I would suggest to get somewhere the lights are present for all seating. The table we were provided, one of the seating were pretty dark, which is a bit too "romantic" because we were not able to see food. The fountain makes the place extremely calming.

Price: Matches the food quality and quantity.

Staffs: Overall they were very friendly and responsive. However, there were one male staff, couldn't get his name. He kept on rushing us out although it was only 10.00 p.m. then. He took of the plates, although we still had food on our table, until we had to remind him that there are still more food, which he apologized. He also insisted on packing our food, when we were still eating at around 10.05 p.m. Notes for the restaurant: Would prefer the staff to only remove the plates when requested by diners or when its past closing time, 10.30 p.m. Other than that, the other staffs were so calm, which also gave our group a sense...

I usually do not leave a bad review but the experience we had at Nok Yung was bad and unbelievable. Sharing this so that (hopefully) other people do not have to experience what we went through.

It was chor yi of CNY (23 Jan 2023) and we made a reservation for 9 pax (5 adults + 4 kids). We were looking forward to dinner with my family weeks ago at this highly raved Thai place. Little did we know the horror awaits!!

We arrived at 6pm (time of our reservation) and there was only 2 groups seated at their assigned tables. We were greeted by this ‘friendly’ staff at the door and we told him our reservation details (the place is fully booked for the day). He went through the reservation list and could not locate our name. He kindly asked for our WA number and could see our reservation confirmed on their phone (but not on the reservation list). At this point there was already a line formed behind us. So he asked us to wait a while while he checks (all he did was to went ahead and serve the rest of the people in line, whose name was lucky enough to be on the reservation list). By the time he got back to us, most of the vacant tables were already occupied.

The ‘friendly’ staff apologise and told us that HIS manager (according to him was on leave that day) wrote the reservation list and there’s nothing he can do to accommodate us as there was no more seats available indoor. He offered for us to be seated outdoor and claims that many of their customers always request to be seated outdoor but they’ll not allow outdoor seatings. Wow such privilege for us. Did I mention it was drizzling at that time and there was signs of downpour from the dark clouds? When we asked him what happened if it rains?? The staff told us then it’ll be a problem!!! It’s surprising how the staff handled the situation and blamed his manager for the error. He also shared that it was only his 6th day at work and he’s not responsible for the error.

So we left the place without dinner and scramble to look for alternative place that can accommodate 9 pax on second day of CNY.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING A VISIT TO THIS PLACE, JUST BE AWARE THAT YOU MAY NOT GET A TABLE EVEN RECEIVING A CONFIRMATION FROM THE RESTAURANT.

A super bad experience and hope the management of Nok Yung could look into who they hire and how they can improve the reservation system. Will never...

Treated HORRIBLY by the staff here. Nowhere in the world, or in all of Malaysia have I witnessed worse treatment. Me and a group of my friends came here while walking through Bamboo Hills, hungry, but we'd just come from a walk and mini-hike, so I was wearing a sleeveless shirt, and jeans and a few others had on running attire. So we weren't dressed up, but we wanted to see if we could eat here, or at least see a menu in case there was a dress code, we could change and come back.

We walked in, and the staff just stood back and glared at us. We gestured and called to a few waiters and hosts walking by but they pretended not to hear us. I say pretended, because they were literally 1 meter away and after being passed repeatedly, even waving as they made direct eye contact and then pretended to look away? Yea, they knew we were there.

We stood there for about 6 - 7 minutes in this manner trying to ask for a menu, or inquire if there was a dress code. Most the other diners seemed a bit dressed up, so we assumed so, but again, we at least had some questions to see if it was going to be worth going back home, changing and returning. Completely ignored like we weren't even there.

I see what I assume to be the owner or a manager considering how he was dressed and clearly in authority, he gave us a look of what I can only describe as contempt and walked away instead of instructing one of the 3 people just standing there with nothing to do to come tend to us.

Right about then, a group of nicely dressed individuals walked in, and one of the individuals rushes right over to greet and tend to them, brushing right past us. We're all looking at each-other in shock at how we're being completely ignored, and decided to just leave.

After reading all the other mediocre and bad reviews here, I can only say it was a good choice to leave. Never, anywhere in the world have I been treated like this. What awful customer service, and how arrogant must they be to ignore customers who merely have a question because of the attire. So rude. Never coming back and I've made sure to tell everyone I know of the...

Downgraded to 4⭐ after my visit on 20 Feb 2024 as the service levels have dropped. The new dishes I tried were the Thai Pomelo salad (nice chunky pieces of pomelo), the steamed squid with chilli and lime (large portion of fresh squid) and stir fry paku (tasted great, paku could be more tender). I can't fault the food here. My earlier review mentioned about the lack of imagination of Thai dishes. Problem still exists. Until they introduce new dishes, I cannot justify coming here over and over again. Previous review: The ambience is perfect - everything is beautifully designed, right down to the hand painted dinnerware. I did find the lighting to be a bit dim in the main dining area but lovebirds wouldn't mind! Service is excellent. For the first time in Malaysia, a waiter came to wipe my table as I spilled a little bit (not a lot) of my tom yum soup without being prompted. We used one of the spare bowls to store our pandan leaves from the Pandan chicken. They cleared the full bowl and gave us a new bowl. Again, a first for me. OK, the food. Every dish was excellent. - gaeng som talay - loaded with big prawns and squid, the soup was perfect even I prefer clear soups (without cili paste) - Thai style crispy omelette - perfectly sinful (and the cheapest item on the menu, lol) - chicken Thai green curry (super fragrant and only thigh meat used, hooray) - Pandan fried chicken (crispy bits but moist) - pineapple fried rice (good) - phad Thai (a bit wet, came with the 3 condiments - sugar, cili flakes and crushed peanuts - that's quite original) In summary, we had an excellent dining experience. The food is not totally original as real Thai is hotter and more sour. But this place is perfect for a celebratory dinner (as it is expensive). I do wish a restaurant of this quality would offer more unusual regional Thai cuisine to educate fans of Thai food like me. Well done!

Food was quite good but high price point for the portions served & type of Thai food options available. Would rate it 7/10. Nothing extremely unique but quality is on point. Portions were quite small though, especially for a bigger group, that we had to order double for some dishes for a group of 6 of us. They only had their soft opening menu when we went, so might’ve been the reason for the small portions maybe? For 6 pax, we ordered the: • prawn tomyam soup (would say it’s more suitable for 2-4pax & only had 2 prawns) • pad krapow gai (2x plates) • steamed red snapper fish (which was very fresh but wish it had more spice & tanginess) • Thai style crispy omelette (it was quite crispy & big, just nice for 6 people with 1 slice each) • green curry chicken (it was nice and creamy, just unfortunate we couldn’t try the wagyu version. It was also quite small, probably more suitable for 3-4pax) • stir fry kai lan (2x plates; because it was quite small as well, 2-3 pax worth) • the rice is Thai rice which is either served by per bowl per person or a big pot (which wasn’t really big either especially when you have big eaters, and we ended up having to buy an additional pot) • Desserts: Thai red ruby & coconut ice cream (it was surprisingly quite coconutty and red ruby was good too) Last call was at 9.30pm if I remember correctly. Seating: They do have private rooms available too but there is a minimum spend of RM1k. But we managed book a table in one of the rooms where there was only one other 2pax table beside us. Ambience: Modern & boujee - looks like a place that’s meant for smart casual wear and could even be semi-formal wear. Definitely date-night suitable. But when we went, there were typical Chinese uncles that dressed like they were going to kopitiam in ah beng shorts, t-shirt and slippers lol
