One of the best restaurant that I have been to with my wife. Good food with generous portion, quiet & classy ambience, and most importantly attentive customer service throughout the whole dinner. This is a restaurant where I have no objection for giving the 10% service charge.
Imagine wandering around KL City Centre and looking for dinner in somewhere quiet with nice ambience, we came to Shook! after we drop-by at Starhill Gallery. We went there around 7.45pm and the dinner ala-carte menu looks fine for me and my wife so we decided to give it a try.
Once we're inside, a sincere, nice and sweet lady Miya came to our table asking whether are we ready to order and she even offered us some opinions regarding the dishes that we've chosen. We ordered Grilled Red Snapper with Truffle Mac n Cheese, Pizza (forgot the name) and Wild Mushroom Soup for 2 person.
The taste of the food was good and food portion was so generous that we can't even finished the pizza and had to take it away with us so for us, the taste + portion = price we paid for (absolutely fair). Not forget to mention, Miya came at least 4 times during our 2 hours dinner in the restaurant.
Before we proceed to the counter for payment, we told Miya that today is actually my birthday so right away she asked me not to go first because she wanted to give me a surprise and after 5mins, she and her colleagues came to me with a nice and tasty chocolate brownie type of cake while singing happy birthday. A really nice gesture and marvelous experience for me and wife.
When we were doing our payment, once again Miya came to talked to us and tell us how happy she was to have us coming here for birthday dinner. What a sweet lady and I hope the company can really see her effort and attentive towards customers.
A tremendous service from Miya and her action left me and my wife a very good impression towards Shook! Will definitely come back for another round of lunch / dinner for sure but make sure Miya...
Read moreLocated in JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Shook is an amazing restaurant with not so amazing food.
Restaurant has a very attractive decor which gives it a very unique touch. Lighting is so calm to the eyes and displays the food in a very clear and attractive way. Service provided by the staff is phenomenal without a doubt as they keep asking if something is required from the customer’s side. They are very attentive and friendly. Restaurant is very clean and tidy. Atmosphere of the place is cool. Coffee machine is available for usage to serve hot drinks. Fresh baked breads. Variety of fruits.
Coming to the food, although many varieties are available with Shook but unfortunately there isn’t much food that interests Arabs & Desis (Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, etc.). Most of the food cooked is honestly targeted towards Europeans and the west. We love eating our food with bread not with fork. Most of the food in Shook like eggs, Vegetable fried noodles along with non-veg, Grilled curries sausage, Baked Mushroom, Honey cured chicken and a lot more are eaten by fork and knife.
What is mentioned on the juices section is FRESH JUICE but that is deceiving as it wasn’t fresh when I tasted it and when I asked the employee, he has also informed me about it being not fresh. Rather used from bottled juices.
I’d give it a 7/10 rating for the dedication they have put towards the design and for employees’ good attitude. -3 is for the food that I have not enjoyed at...
Read moreOur recent visit to the 5-star hotel for the Shook Summertime Buffet lunch left us feeling quite disappointed. After eagerly returning to Asia post-pandemic, we had high hopes for this dining experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell short of our expectations.
The promotional posters displayed mouthwatering images of crab and steak, yet these delicacies were conspicuously absent from the buffet. Instead, we found a limited variety of dishes, many of which seemed to have been sitting out for an extended period. The dried-up chicken was a particularly disappointing sight.
Furthermore, we had anticipated a selection of fresh and delectable Japanese dishes, including sushi, but were met with a meager offering of cold fried fish and chicken. This deviation from the advertised menu left us disheartened.
Lastly, the poster had promised an extensive salad selection, which, regrettably, was nowhere to be found.
In summary, our experience was far from the luxurious and diverse pan Asian buffet we had envisioned. We left feeling let down and somewhat misled by the promotional materials. We hope the management takes our feedback into consideration for future...
