I’m very disappointed with the service at this restaurant. The waiter who took our order was a foreigner who couldn’t understand either Malay or English properly, which made it difficult for us to place our order. When we asked to speak to the manager or person in charge, the manager also failed to provide the proper explanation. The manager’s attitude was quite rude, acting as if we didn’t understand the menu, when all we did was ask for clarification to make the right choice. Isn’t it part of your job to explain the menu and ensure customers understand what they’re ordering?
On top of that, when we were paying at the cashier, we simply suggested that the restaurant consider offering QRPay as a payment option. Unfortunately, the response was quite disappointing “we’ve already told the boss many times, he doesn’t want to.” and i felt like the manager’s tone and expression came across as if she was looking down on me, as though i couldn’t afford to be there. As a manager, a more professional answer would be, “we’ll try to work on it” or “we’ll consider it.” A manager should know how to handle people, especially in communicating respectfully with customers, only then can they truly be considered fit for a managerial role. How did Luk Yu Tea House even hire someone like this as a manager?
It really makes us wonder, was proper training provided to the staff? The way the manager handled the situation showed a serious lack of professionalism and basic communication skills, which raises concerns about the management standards at this restaurant.
Having people like this in charge will only damage the business and drive customers away. Based on this experience, we honestly don’t see ourselves returning if this is the standard of service...
Read moreOverall Experience: Luk Yu Tea House offers a delightful dim sum experience with a comfortable and stylish ambiance. It’s a great place to enjoy traditional flavors with friends or family.
Food: The dim sum selection was varied and well-prepared. The steamed crystal prawn dumplings (har gow) and scallop dumplings were highlights, with delicate flavors and fresh ingredients not to mention they were generously sized compared to others, making them a standout dish. The steamed prawn and spinach dumplings stood out with their fresh and flavorful filling, perfectly complementing the thin wrapper. The chicken char siu bao was soft, fluffy, and packed with savory-sweet filling, making it a crowd-pleaser. Each dish was served fresh and hot, adding to the overall enjoyment.
Service: The staff were friendly and attentive, quickly addressing our requests and ensuring we had everything we needed. Tea refills were prompt, and the service was efficient despite the steady flow of customers.
Cost: With most dim sum dishes priced at RM20 and the buy-one-free-one deal running until year-end of 2024, the meal is not only delicious but also great...
Read moreLuk Yu Tea House has reopened at Starhill basement with a bigger more spacious area with a nicer ambience. So 4/5 for ambience & decor. Service was ok but may be inadequate during peak hours as there were only two waiting staff on duty while we were dining around 5pm. We ordered some dim sum items - siew mai, prawns dumplings, fried turnip cake, etc. Most of the dim sum were of average taste and were not warm or hot. Feels like not freshly made. Ingredients are fresh though with fairly large prawns used. Prices though are at hotel price, so no cheap dim sum here. Importantly it remains pork free which means much of the dim sum will taste odd. Sorry I may be biased but I preferred dim sum that’s with pork. So my rating for the food 3/5. To be fair, there are also many non dim sum items on menu but we didn’t order. This place is not for those dim sum connoisseur seeking the most authentic delicious dim sum. It’s a place that offers halal dim sum that caters to both Muslim and others. It’s a nice cosy comfy place for tea as long as you don’t expect much...
