In the old commercial area of Lucky Garden in Bangsar is a capybara-themed cafe called The Perch Coffee. Spot a bright green signage with a sleeping capybara and you're there. More capybara murals as you ascend the staircase, and the sight of a huge capybara plush toy as you enter the cafe.
After finding your favourite spot, proceed to the counter to order food & drinks. The food leans heavily towards Japanese fusion on top of the regular cafe coffee and matcha.
◾Okonomiyaki - the savoury Japanese pancake was loaded with grilled chicken thigh for protein, homemade secret tasty condiments and shaved katsuobushi toppings. ◾Shakshuka was laden with onion, carrot, chicken and 2 baked eggs with runny yolks, submerged in the spiced tomato based gravy, which would be perfect if it was not too watery. I prefer my Shakshuka to be thicker in texture. ◾Filter Coffee - love the gold piece on the otherwise plain black cup that filled with my choice of coffee. ◾Iced matcha latte using Niko Neko green tea that the princess loved.
You've gotta be really LUCKY in finding a parking spot in LUCKY Garden, as experienced by yours truly on Saturday morning when there was morning market...
Read moreFood was not bad, but the caffe latte was so-so. One thing I would like to point out is the attitude of a staff. When my mum was paying at the counter, the staff asked about the food and drinks, so my mum made a comment on the caffe latte. Before my mum could go into details, the staff eventually asked if the coffee had too little aroma, which is obviously a yes and as my mum was just saying that we've tasted better yet cheaper coffee options outside (compared to the caffe latte here), the staff just pointed to my mum a RM4.90 coffee on the menu and said "you should order this then", sounding like he was looking down on my mum and my mum was offended by that obviously. When he knew that the taste was off, he should have just apologised and said they would improve it the next time instead of making a scornful comment like that... This incident did ruin our whole experience there.. tho the other staff were nice...
Read moreFirst visit. Couldn't be more disappointing 100% regret on my choice with a cafe situated bangsar lucky garden. Waited close 20 min to takeaway ice matcha latte cost MYR13.10. The moment by 1st sip Matcha Latte it was thin layer and diluted already before ice merged. Im sorry but this is disgrace to a matcha fans. The boys are doing it in a rush can tell by the crowd waiting. For a second thought is the food chain making wise choice product quality, employee competency or just create population wave.
Any chance return to the said cafe.. Once...
