Fairly decent food and decent ambience. They have some tables outside of the restaurant in open area arrange on the walkway across the road at the restaurant front.
The guy who took the order for seafood selections was friendly and suggestive with some sense of humor. Price wise is average and what to be expected for a seafood restaurant.
The only thing that they need to seriously improve is the speed on serving the foods from the main kitchen which took for almost an hour to arrive after all the grilled dishes were served. Overall food quality was average and if I would have to compare to the famous Jalan Bellamy's grill seafood restaurants I would give them 6 out of 10.
They could do better if they would to improve on the speed of main kitchen and also the recipe of the grilled food sambal marinade which I found to be just barely acceptable and the chance of us returning to this restaurant is very slim to none considering the latter.
The only reason for us to be there for the first time was the grilled seafood but unfortunately they have wasted that one chance to prove that they are not just another grilled...
Read moreAs a former F&B employee, I've experience countless issues. UNCLE D is the same as other malay restaurants, disorganize, poor management and hospitality and etc.
The food was average but hats off to the Asam Pedas here. Its the only thing good about this place of all the problems.
I waited for half an hour for the food to arrive, the only apologies I receive was from the Akak waiter. She greet us and apologize for the delay, didn't receive any apologies from the owner.
The fish was tough and hard to chew sometime, im not sure how fresh the fish was. Was it frozen? I do not know. But buying fresh groceries shouldnt be a problem knowing you're serving seafood. And the fish took forever to arrive and the fact that we arrived there early, our order were not in numbers. Just when we thought our grill fish were coming to be serve, they serve it to a customer that had just arrived.
The only reason UNCLE D is surviving is because they are located in the most busy part of KL. Which is kampung baru, definitely not a place you wanna go for a dinner or lunch if you're in a hurry.

Waiting over an hour for food is unacceptable, but 75 minutes for a simple Soup Ayam(Chicken soup)? That’s downright ridiculous and a slap in the face to anyone expecting decent service. • The squid was so rubbery it was inedible and clearly not fresh. • The fish was slimy, foul, and absolutely nauseating. • The cockles? A complete disaster—they were so old they couldn’t even be opened properly. It was revolting. • Complaints were met with the same robotic excuse: “the food is being made” or 'it's already being made(1 hour later). All we got was a fake apology and panic of what to do and dismissive of our dissatisfaction, no effort to make things right—just complete indifference. • The entire restaurant was full of frustrated, hungry customers visibly angry and constantly checking on their delayed orders. It was chaos. • This place is a disgrace to Malaysian cuisine and a betrayal of what Kampung Baru used to stand for. This feels like a tourist trap and there is no flavor in the food. I don't expect a restaurant like this to have repeat customers. Warning: • Avoid this place like the plague. • There are plenty of other restaurants on this street where you won’t waste your time or money on this absolute disaster of a dining experience.
Bahasa Melayu* Tolong lah, kalau nak berniaga tu buat lah betul-betul. Buat naya orang je. Kalau satu benda je yang teruk takpe jugak, ni banyak benda yang tak elok.
Restoran ni memang buat malu kampung baru je. Tempat ni legend dgn makanan melayu. Memang tourist trap, makanan takda rasa, service teruk. Tak fikir kalau customer tu nak datang balik ke tak. Patut buat bisnes nak return customer.
Warning: Tak payah datang restoran ni, spoil je mood nanti. Banyak lagi restoran yang sedap kat kampung baru ni.
Kalau owner restoran ni baca, minta tolonglah improve dan perbetulkan masakan dan service kedai anda. Kalau tak nak, good luck lah nak dapat...
