Avoid -- incredibly overpriced, poor atmosphere (in restaurant itself) and the worst service we had in Langkawi. Think this place is only in business because it has a prime view of the coast.
Service was embarrassingly poor. We were served by a different person each time, and it went from being chaotic to just totally ignoring us. About 3 different people tried to take our order. We were told that what we wanted was sold out, along with several of other dishes (at 7.30 on a Sunday. By the point we'd been told dishes weren't available, we'd ordered drinks - so they'd tied us down). Food took ages to arrive. When it did arrive, noone asked if it was ok. Noone came to offer more drinks (we'd run out before the food even arrived). It was impossible to get more drinks as staff stood around on their phones, pointedly ignoring us.
The food itself wasn't great. The menu is limited and not particularly Malaysian. It's basically fish with a token few Thai-style meat options. The fish was ok, but the beef with Thai basil didn't actually contain any Thai basil. It was just beef in a plain unseasoned gravy, as if a bit of water and flour had been added to the pan it was fried in.
Note that the food prices are basically Western prices - just under £50 for two starters, two mains and one cocktails. It's not cheap and you need "sides" (rice, veg) with most dishes.
The water is also a farce. I think it's absolutely disgusting that if you ask for bottled water, you'll get given imported European bottled water. You have to explicitly ask for Malaysian mineral water. It's absurd to import water from the other side of the planet when theres plenty of natural Malaysian mineral water.
It's nice having a sea view, but the walls around the restaurant are high so you can't see the view from the table unless you're quite tall/sit up really really straight. The restaurant itself feels like a cheap cafe. Noisy, fans everywhere, no attempt at all to cultivate atmosphere. Other guests were watching videos loudly on their phones.
Basically hard to see this as anything but a disappointment. Not remotely the special dinner we...
Read moreThere are a lot of criteria to clasify the restaurants. For me a important part is the desert, from multiple reasons. It is the last part of the dinner and I want to feel satisfied when I left the restaurant.
I tried this restaurant 2 times, because the limitation of the options. In first time it was ok, and I enjoyed very much the desert, the mango with the rice. The main food was good, but not extraordinary. I spoke a lot with the waiter and I declarated the next dinner I will take the mango 3 times, for the starter, main course and the desert. It was a joke, but with reasons. Unfortunalty, he didn't understand the message.
Next day, we go to same restaurant. The starter and the main course was in same line, good but nothing memorable as tasting.
For the desert, my wife taken some complety unplesant fruits, and some banal split banana (in a different interpretation, not in a good sense) for me. Why? The official answer was that they dind't received good mango. So, we are in the tropical area and they are not capable to have a simple fruit in the menu, which can find everywhere. Is not acceptable. If it is a respectable restaurant, they need to respect self rules/options in the menu. This is not a escuze for the expensive restaurant. So for next day, I decided to go in another place. Because of the 1-2 MYR missing fruit.
The best thing with this restuarant it is the place to see the sunset.
The worst thing is that they close to 22:00, and you need to order everything before the 21:15. Otherwise, the kitchen will be closed. After 21:15 the atmosfere is not pleasant, because they are not more clients and everybody prepare to finish the works.
I tried to eat the lobster here, but the price was extremely high (instead of big portion) and the offer of the manager was complete unattractive to us. An additional, the lobsters are keept in the freezer, so no fresh lobster. Maybe is better compare with aquarium lobster.
P.S. In the past, in a greek restaurant, they go to normal shop nearby restaurant to replace the missing things instead...
Read moreWorst foods ever!! Me and my husband ordered seared foie gras, seafood platter (for 2 persons), some shrimp dishes and vegies and a bottle of champagne.. We could barely eat any of them except one broccoli dish even though we were so starving. Honestly ive never dropped a review for any restaurant and we were not a picky eater at all although we love foods!! But the foods were shockingly terrible.. it was not just about the way to cook I strongly believe that the ingredients had something wrong.. especially the foie gras looked like it was fried and tasted really weird lacking any flavours... the eggs didnt even tasted like a normal eggs.. we couldn't even believe what we saw..Cuz all tasted so bad and not normal.. everything in the seafood platter was either very soggy or either far from the decent..the lobster in the plate was served like a deep fried style lacking any flavours except the poor sauce.. any ingredients was not fresh..So..we complained and the manager apologized and politely kept insisting to replace those with other dish in a Western style asking us if we dont local foods.. We love malay foods.. we love having local style dishes.. that guy really didn't get what we were talking about.. he kept asking us to wait for new plates but it was our last dinner/night in Langkawi it was not about getting stuffed it was about our memory, time and moods.. and we didn't think that their foods would get any better with the same ingredients.. We ended up fully paying approx. 160-170 USD for our ruined dinner (around 110 USD for foods only) and left with our leftover champagne.. It was unbelievable...
