Our dining experience in Malacca was completely ruined by this restaurant. First, let’s talk about the environment. It was located in what seemed like an open-air parking lot, and I seriously doubted if I had the correct address. Second, when we were ordering, the prices for crabs and fish weren’t listed on the menu or on any board in the restaurant. When we asked, the waiter said they had crabs for 188 MYR for two, and even more expensive options. Similarly, for fish, they mentioned that a Patin Fish could be over 150 MYR for one, which would weigh around 800-1000 grams. Is this a joke? In Jurong East, Singapore, a Patin Fish of the same size would only cost 29.8 SGD. Are prices in Malacca now higher than Singapore?
Third, the crab we ordered was clearly not fresh. As someone who lives in Singapore and frequently travels between Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan Korea. I have a keen sense for the freshness of seafood. I can confidently say that the crab was not fresh. The clams were also mediocre, and many of them didn't even open. The sambal kangkong (stir-fried water spinach with sambal) was extremely salty, even by Malaysian standards.
Finally, I want to complain about the jubao tea we ordered. The color was as pale as water, and it tasted like plain boiled water. As someone who drinks tea every day, I was furious but managed to keep my cool. Even more outrageous, a 640ml bottle of Tiger beer in this restaurant cost over 30 MYR. I was shocked. In Singapore, which is known for its high alcohol taxes, a 640ml bottle of Tiger only costs 7.8 SGD, which is still under 30 MYR based on the current exchange rate.
This dining experience left a terrible impression on our trip to Malacca. Setting aside all the other issues, the staff was quite friendly and approachable. This is pretty much the only positive thing I can say about the place.Fortunately, we were able to enjoy other aspects of Malacca, such as its culture and...
Read moreThis seafood restaurant in Melaka is hands down one of the best I’ve been to!
Food: The seafood is incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The salted egg sotong was the star of the night! Crispy, fragrant, and so addictive that we finished it in minutes. The shark fin soup was rich and flavorful, with a nice balance that wasn’t too heavy. Other dishes were equally impressive, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients and the chef’s skill in keeping flavors authentic.
Ambience: The restaurant is spacious, clean, and well laid out. It has a lively, welcoming atmosphere without being too noisy, making it great for family dinners or casual get-togethers. Service was prompt and friendly, which really added to the experience.
Parking: One of the best things is the large parking area. No stress about finding a spot, which makes dining here so much more convenient.
Overall, this place nails it in every aspect — food, service, ambience, and convenience. A must-visit if you’re in Melaka and craving...
Read moreRead google reviews and walked 10mins from Hatten Hotel where we were staying. We ordered steamboat fish head, soup was really tasty and unique. Nian nian sotong was deep fried and was yummy too 👍
The staff were friendly and constantly checking in to make sure we were well served! We had trouble with payment as we did not have enough cash with us and payment via credit card was not really working. They were kind to give us a discount.
The entrance to the restaurant was a short distance from the main road. It was around 9 at night so it was really quiet. It started to pour during dinner and the place was a little wet with strong wind and waters trickling in the dining area. But still we had no regrets! It was definitely worth the visit!!
Thank you for the wonderful food and reasonable prices!! Enjoyed...
