There were 5 of us and we ordered the 3-4 person set, 1 bowl of black bean soup and Assam fish. Portions were just nice. The chicken can order mix of roasted and steamed chicken. The chicken skin is slightly yellow, not sure is it kampong chicken. Chicken meat was tender and there was also some gizzard and liver. Chicken rice ball not as nice as we expected. I think because need to shape into balls so the rice has a mushy texture. Chilli sauce was nice blend of spicy and sour. Also have dark soy sauce if you want. Set also comes with fried cabbage. Assam fish comes with fish slices that was overcooked. The fish sauce was appetising, but the flavour didn't go into the fish meat. Black bean soup was very tasty with lots of bean. We had 2 types of drink - eight treasure tea and lemon sour plum juice. Both were very sweet, but the lemon sour plum was slightly better because a bit sour and salty. Prices are as seen in the photo with drinks at RM 3 each. The restaurant owner likes to take photo of each table of customers. He asked for permission first, but we just find it kind of weird. Free parking along the roads...
Read moreThis is our go-to famous chicken rice shop other than the popular one at Jonker, manned by the younger siblings. This is operated by the older brother. The place is clean and well-organised, and ordering is straightforward and quick with the menu showing the various sets available. However, a la carte is another option if you know exactly what you want. Staff members are fast, friendly and efficient in serving, and food and drinks are served promptly too. If not, they'd inform beforehand.
The rice balls are delicious and the chicken is succulent and smooth too - the chicken rice sauce is really yummilicious. Both children and dad are easily satisfied with just the rice balls and sauce. That's why this would always be our one-stop chicken rice shop for a meal or for packing it back to our hometown.
Thanks, boss and staff members! We'll be back for another...
Read moreYesterday, May 29th, I brought 13pax of Japanese Guests to have lunch at Heng Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant. It turns out the food was so yummy, the chicken rice ball was not too big nor small, just right portion for lunch. We had combinations of Roast Chicken and Poached ones depending of the individual liking and requests, Most importantly, when the chicken was served, it was still warm, Not usual in most chicken rice shop serves warm chicken, usually when chicken is served, they're cold, but this restaurant serves warm chicken, all my guests was so impressed and they love every bit of it. Thank you to the boss and lady boss who was very attentive and patient with us when there was chaos within us on our individual selection. This is highly recommended and will visit again and bring more guests to have lunch here. Good Job to the Heng Chicken...
