Our first dinner in Melaka was pre-planned in advance. I brought along a wild Patin Jerung all the way from KL - Melaka, letting it thaw naturally all day in anticipation for family get-together.
Part of the group that also owns Lucky Palace in Ayer Keroh & Seremban (more on this later), they obliged to steam the fish for us (at a few of course).
◾Steamed Patin Jerung was a dish that was executed to perfection with on-point doneness and drizzled with good quality soy sauce before topped with fried garlic and coriander. The 3kg++ fish was gone just like that. ◾Roasted Pork with Black Pepper & Honey Sauce happened to be their signature sauce which was truly different from the rest. Imagine a plate of thinly sliced pork belly with the heat from black pepper (not overwhelming) coupled with sweetness from the honey. Even the young ones could accept the taste. ◾Braised beancurd for the gravy. ◾Da Cha Fan was their version of roasted pork coated in their homemade sauce laid on top of white rice. Mix everything together and the rice will absorb the homemade savoury sauce. ◾Stir fried sang mee was non-oily and had the wok hei to keep us wanting more. ◾Stir Fried Green Dragon Vegetable ◾Siong Tong Yin Choy

Read moreAlways feel this is just generally a normal Chinese restaurant that serve a lot of tour group ( this restaurant is so long in Melaka, although not visiting often but definitely will spot 2-3 table of tour group whenever dine there. Moreover dishes are near to justifying but never impress )
This time for birthday celebration purposely pre-ordered Peking duck, 顺克fish and their specialty chicken rice. Result, it’s a surprise ! And now they impress us.
With only these 3 dishes can see their value and the chef’s “kung fu” . Delicious and even beats some of those expensive Chinese restaurant in Singapore. Chicken rice is authentic and nostalgic. Chili paste for the chicken rice is top-notch. Fish was steam to perfect doneness.
Service and environment still as same as usual tho. Few service staffs even on a very busy night, so be prepare to wait. But the restaurant indeed spacious and comfortable distance within tables so won’t feel pack even its full house.
If wanna enjoy be sure to check their pre-order menu. Looks like shall use this trick to other long history restaurant when visit...
Read moreThis iconic restaurant located just opposite to the Malacca Club in Melaka Raya offers superb Chinese dish options for big groups. Outstanding ambiance, cool environment and attentive & friendly staff. We arrived at about 8.30pm, there were very few patrons. The egg foo yoong was good, filled with vegetable and pork filling. Not dry and went well with the vinegar chilli sauce provided. The sizzling venison with spring onion was the highlight of the service. The venison meat was soft, not rubbery and it was flavourful. Improvement that can be initiated is more of the sauce for the venison, it eventually dried up once the sizzling process was over. The fried boneless chicken pieces with lemon sauce were delicious as well. More lemon sauce would have been great as well. Pricing is towards the moderate side. Overall a grand experience. Will definitely come...
