We went there all the way from Singapore and saw that this restaurant had quite good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. These are what we had:
The taro rice was cold. The pork leg was normal. The back kut teh soup was nice. The fried fritters were not crispy at all. The dry bak kut teh was alright.Service was horrible.
None of the staff could understand mandarin or English and I can't speak Malay.
They couldn't explain the menu properly to us and we didn't know how big a portion to order (we ended up ordering one pax portion for each item mentioned above). The only person who understands actual mandarin was working the soups and broths in front of the shop. I asked her to top up the soup ONCE. She went to top up the soup for ANOTHER TABLE WHO REQUESTED TO TOP UP THE SOUP AFTER ME. The place wasn't very busy. In the end, I HAD TO ASK THEM 3 TIMES BEFORE SOMEONE ACTUALLY TOPPED UP THE SOUP AND THIS WAS AFTER THEY TOPPED UP THE OTHER TABLE'S SOUP TWICE.
The staff all had an expression like we owe them their salaries.

Also, this is not my first time dining...
Read moreShan Cheng Bak Kut Teh, located in Melaka Raya, is hands down my favorite Bak Kut Teh spot in Melaka. Whether you prefer the dry or soup version, both are incredibly flavorful and satisfying. The Bak Kut Teh here is a true delight. The soup is rich, aromatic, and packed with layers of savory herbal flavors. The dry Bak Kut Teh is equally delicious, with tender, well-seasoned meat. As for the yam rice, it pairs perfectly with the Bak Kut Teh soup. And for an extra treat, dipping the crispy Yau Char Kwai into the soup is pure heaven, crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. The lady boss is always so friendly and welcoming, often taking time to chat a little with customers. For me, the service is quite fast, and the staff is attentive, ensuring all your...
