Jasmine Cafe Tanah Rata Cameron Highlands — Restaurant in Pahang

DO NOT DINE HERE!! I would give zero stars if possible! My family and I tried this restaurant in December 2018, and during the time of visit there was no customers. The waiter could not even look at us when asking if we would prefer tea/coffee or ice cream as an option provided in the set menu.

FOOD TASTE HORRIBLE: Although that might not be something to be hung up about, the food tasted horrible. Four plates, each with different meat from lamb, chicken and beef were all served in 4 minutes or less at the same time. The meat were definitely made at a much earlier time as there was no taste in the meat and the sauce was poured over the meat. The mushroom soup taste like something from campbell soup can. The meat was like chewing hard gum and the only thing they got right was the french fries.

PRICE: The price it incredibly high for the terrible food and service. As other reviewers have mentioned, the owner and servers are rude and seemed to be looking to just milk customers of money. My family and I have eaten at other restaurant/cafes in Cameron highland and the price is in other restaurants are better if not the same, not higher.

SERVICE: No eye contact, no thank you, no you're welcome. Again, I don't expect a full blown conversation, but as a person who have worked in the restaurant industry it is restaurant 101 to greet customers and common courtesy to say thank you and welcome. I am proud that my family remained polite throughout our dining experience and yet there was not any response from both owners/servers.

This restaurant/ cafe is a waste of money and space. Go elsewhere!! I would highly recommend My Cake House as an alternative for their desserts. Although I did not get a chance to taste their main courses, their service is good.

JASMINE CAFE HOUSE IS A SHAME!...

Their food was delicious, and up to standard with the pricing. It's hard to find such delicious western food even in KL area with such pricing or slightly higher price. It's just like the food quality I ate in trip to Australia or Europe.

The chef worked in Netherlands for 10+ years before came back to open this restaurant. His signature dishes are smoked duck, lamb chop and steak. It's sad that their steak was out of order the day we went. My family ordered grilled smoked duck and flamed smoke duck. It was made from fresh duck, so it tastes different from what I usually ate in other restaurants which were preserved for long time. The strawberries juice was nice and made of strawberries which widely produced in Cameron

We went there for second dinner and tried out other dishes. I didn't take all food photos. The salmon was juicy inside and has nice grilled taste outside. The fish fillet was soft enough and not flaky inside, and crispy outside. The lamp chop has no stinky lamb taste but a bit dried for me. The chicken chop was average.

The downside for many Cameron restaurants is that sometimes there's a fly in the restaurant, which happened in first day but...

1 word to describe the restaurant, "pathetic". Last time when I was here (2020), the food used to be good and fantastic. Even their menu back then was much, but I enjoyed their chicken chop.

Mind you, this is my usual spot that I hangout whenever I do visit Cameron Highlands.

However, recent visit to Jasmine Café went down from good to worst, and possibly pathetic! The price doesn't even matches the food quality. The chicken were like deep fried without any crumbs, special seasoning, just chicken thigh! Sides are horrible as well, even KFC's coleslaw are way better. Lastly, the black pepper sauce, I have no words to describe how watery it is as it's worst compared to cheap instant black pepper sauce!!

The worst part, me and my partner were the only customer at the time, so the food shouldn't be that awfully bad, and before we're leaving, suddenly a spike of customers walks in. There's only 1 staff operating the whole entire café, then this took me another 15 minutes of waiting to pay and GTFO there.
