Came back to May Flower for nostalgic purpose. This restaurant is one of the old establishments in Tanah Rata area, and one of the earliest restaurants that I dined in when I came to Cameron Highlands many years ago.
Quite popular among the locals and tourists alike, they have individual meals, dai chow as well as steamboats because it's perfect for the cooling weather. It's not unusual to see foreigners tucking into fried rice or noodle while eating here because there's a popular bunker hotel next to it.
◾Their strength might be in their salted egg yolk dish as I had their bitter gourd and "dragon moustache" vegetable in this style.. and both delivered! Even my friend agreed that they are good in this. ◾Fried enoki mushroom made a perfect snacks ◾yin choy in superior soup warmed the tummy in the weather. ◾Fried chicken in fermented beancurd tasted normal but enjoyable nonetheless. ◾fried spring rolls in caul fat had the crunchiness of vegetable inside. ◾Bah Kut Teh was forgettable ◾Their pork dishes might be a bit stingy in portion given the high price of the meat lately. Read moreExtremely rude. Before I sat down, I asked one of the male waiter if it was okay if the 3 of us orders only 1 pax of steamboat and we'll order other dishes. He said ok. After I sat down, I said 1 pax steamboat, and before I could say my other orders, the old lady who was taking my order started scolding me for only ordering 1 pax steamboat and she said I have to order min 3 pax as there were 3 of us. However, before I could even say okay, the old lady told the old man to ignore us (they literally chased us out of the restaurant?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!) Such an unpleasant experience and they were so inconsistent in WHAT WAS THE ACTUAL REQUIREMENT FOR ORDERING THE STEAMBOAT. If they wanted each guest to order the steamboat then they could at least be more consistent instead of raising their voice and...

You add ingredients as you like them, eat them when they're ready, and each addition gains all the flavor of the prior ingredients. When I say it aloud it sounds like you're doing all the work, but May Flower provided a full spread of ingredients to sample and mix. Be sure to show up starving when you come, there's more than enough food for two adults. May Flower enjoys the benefits of Cameron Highlands' lovely scenery,...
