As an Ipohite, I decided to come and try this outlet as I’m a tea person and the idea of traditional tea cakes with afternoon tea is enticing indeed. But coming in at around 2:30pm, the staff told me to sit at a small corner table where the seats doesn’t have a back support; since I came with my elderly 75-year-old mum I requested to sit at a table where the chairs have back support but the only table left was a table that seats 4 pax and the staff told me that if there’s a larger group then I would have to give way to the group, to me that’s a bit rude, what if I’m halfway through my meal? Would you still ask a similar paying customer to shift? Doesn’t make sense, instead the staff shouldn’t have said such a statement to me - owner/management hope you’d take note!
In the end to avoid any hassle I choose to sit at the corner table (and slightly later a young couple was given the table I’d initially requested for - thumbs up for respecting the elderly in this case - if you get my meaning, you get it) and being in the corner, it was so hard for me to get any of the staffs’ attention, i.e.: to get refills of hot water. Another improvement required is where the staff should be trained to hold the tea cups where their fingers wouldn’t touch the brim where I’d be sipping from, happens twice in a short tea session in my case, the first time I asked for a replacement cup.
Food is only average at most and priced similar in range to food in KL… the sweet potato balls in milk wasn’t QQ enough…
Would I return or recommend anyone to try here?...
Read moreUniquely designed old gritty classic environment. Which totally brings back a nostalgic atmosphere. There are loads of local art works, books, n unique print work showcased here. Inspiring for designers.
Choices of tea were quite good enough, and they are well verse with the preparation and the additional hot boiling pot(black clay pot) which is nice.
Their vegan menu were surprisingly good. Ordered their green curry vege rice(mixed grain rice) which tasted good to my liking.
Mandarin Cheese Cake was surprisingly good, served with 2 slices of peach which turn on the overall presentation.
Coconut filling Ang Ku kuih surprised us the most as the glutinous flour skin has a nice chewy texture and the coconut filling was not overly sweet, just nice and blend well for our taste bud.
And lastly the seasonal tang Yuan dessert tasted nice, worth to try as it is not too full, both the big n small tang Yuan were just nicely made.
Overall I love this place and would revisit again. Since there isn't much tea house in Ipoh, this one totally worth the visit.
Cons: parking slightly challenging, but not a big issue if u can park nearby area or...
Read moreBack in Ipoh for the long weekend and came to check this place out after seeing some pictures on social media. I had the longan goji berry drink while hubs had the osmanthus oolong tea. My drink had the sweet smell and taste of longan wafting away the minute I took a sip. But hub's oolong overpowered the osmanthus. For food, we ordered the goji berry agar agar and angku kuih which had dessicated coconut as filling with a slight taste of gula melaka. Both were not sweet which was a relief. The agar agar wasn't too hard nor too soft, the texture was just right. And the angku kuih had a sprinkling of nuts which added the crunchy texture. Between the two, I would say this was more memorable. I would certainly come back again to chill or to meet up with girlfriends. The only thing I felt oddly out of place with the antique looking furniture is the piped french sounding music, I think it's the...
