Nasi lemak ayam kari - 3/10
The rice is too soft and lacks richness. The sambal is supposed to be the main highlight of this dish, but it's not satisfying. It's a bit too salty because it was cooked together with the anchovies. I think it would be better if the sambal and anchovies were cooked separately. The spiciness is adequate, but the sambal's flavor is unbalanced, it's just spicy without any hint of sweetness. The peanuts are crispy. The chicken curry has a thick, rich gravy with a good creamy taste, but it's a bit oily, and the curry flavor isn't strong.
Spageti tomato - 9/10
A strong tomato flavor that lasts until the end of the meal. The pasta is soft and not too dry, with the tomato sauce and pasta blending well together. Served with 5 meatballs that are not too soft, kenyal ii taste. The portion is sufficient.
Mee kari - 8/10
A generous portion that matches the price. The noodles are springy, not too soft or overcooked. The gravy is rich in flavor and not too watery, just nice for a curry noodle dish. Plenty of meatballs, enough to complete the meal.
Limau panas -6/10
The taste of the hot lime drink is very good due to the sourness of the lime and just the right amount of sugar. The flavor is well-balanced, but the hot drink was served in a small cup, more suitable for coffee. I was a bit disappointed with the cup size because I expected the drink to be served in a glass, not a cup.
Vietnam coffee -9/10
The taste of the Vietnamese coffee is very strong, with a rich, bold bitterness in every sip. This drink is suitable for those who truly enjoy a bitter type of coffee.
Service -10/10

Read moreThis is my second visit to this breakfast shop, first time in the new location. The establishment is a perfect reflection of Ipoh town, depends on the context.
My family and I got here on weekday during school holiday at 9am. We have the option to be seated on the higher level of the shop due to. Very interesting setting as the table at higher floor have an uninterrupted view of the main dinning floor. Be warn, I expect on normal weather that this higher dinning area to be hotter. We were lucky that December is the month where weather is cooler in Malaysia.
Service is fast and friendly. All method of payment available. Cash, QR and cards.
Here what we thought of the food we ordered: Roti Telur Goyang + kaya 4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ Soft benggali buns, smooth sweet kaya and proper half boiled eggs to top the buns off (literally). Unique combination, no regret as it is awesome.
Mee/Kuew Teow Curry 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My wife had the curry Mee and no complain on her side. I had the curry Kuew Teow, and my only complain is there's no taugeh in it! Appropriate amount of Kuew Teow and sizeable amount of dry tofu plus fish cakes. I felt the curry broth is on the lighter side but smooth and consistent through out.
Western Breakfast 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My two kid had this set. They did not fancy the slim sausage though but clean up the rest.
Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My 10 year old boy had this instead. His comments were "Kari ayam ni pedas, tapi sedap". I tasted the curry my self. I end up pinching a good portion of benggali bread to had it along with the chicken curry.
Kopi Vietnam no. 3 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Buleh raso. A good upgrade from the regular kopi.
Iced coffee 3 ⭐⭐⭐ Tasted a bit diluted. Get the Vietnam coffee...
Read moreI recently took my family to Suhaimi Cafe at Oldtown Ipoh, and it was a delightful experience. We ordered Kacang Pol, butter bread, nasi lemak with chicken curry, and various beverages. The highlight for me was the Kopi Butter, which brought back nostalgic memories of a cafe in Alor Setar where I had my first taste. It's not as strong as a normal espresso (obviously!), but it’s perfect for starting the day with a unique, buttery twist.
This was actually my second visit to Suhaimi Cafe. As a 33-year-old living in Ipoh, I should have visited this place a thousand times already! The original store in Silibin is a bit far for me, but this Oldtown branch is conveniently close enough to become a regular spot for me in the years to come.
The Kacang Pol with Roti Benggali is a standout dish you can’t find anywhere else. It’s just the right amount for a big guy like me. The chili potong and bawang perfectly complement the dish, while the meat and kacang are cooked to perfection—mushy and flavorful. The two pieces of Roti Benggali are also sufficient, allowing me to share a few bites with my wife and even my firstborn, who rarely eats anything other than chicken, enjoyed the meat.
Overall, a fantastic experience that we will definitely repeat. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great...
