Tucked away in a quiet corner and almost invisible even to those who pass by daily, 晨 M Breakfast Cafe is a charming, hidden vegetarian spot that offers a refreshing alternative to the usual food scene. Despite being hard to locate, it’s worth the discovery for those who appreciate subtle flavors and a unique atmosphere.

The cafe itself has a character of its own. Most of the original structures have been preserved, lending an old-world charm that’s increasingly rare, especially in a row of century-old shops. Maintaining such an authentic space is no small feat, and the rustic interior adds to the cozy, laid-back ambiance.

The menu is diverse, featuring items like sourdough breads, pastas, and various noodle bowls — all vegetarian. Here’s a quick take on what we ordered: Scrambled Egg Ciabatta – The seasoning was spot on; not too salty, not bland — just right. The greens were fresh, though the portion could’ve been more generous. Udon Noodle Bowl – A satisfying dish with a good portion. The taste was pleasant and balanced without being overly seasoned. Soba Noodle Bowl – Also lightly seasoned, but the peas had a slightly off smell, which might point to freshness issues. Iced Ipoh White Coffee – Well-prepared and up to the expected standard.

Service was a highlight — the staff were polite and attentive throughout. However, prices are on the higher side, making it less suitable for those on a budget or big eaters looking for hearty meals. Likewise, if you’re someone who prefers bold, heavy flavors, this may not be your go-to spot.

One thing worth mentioning: the cafe offers a free coffee in exchange for a five-star review. While it’s understandable to encourage positive feedback, this kind of strategy can raise questions about the authenticity of online ratings and may not reflect well on the brand’s transparency.

In short, 晨 M Breakfast Cafe is a peaceful, well-preserved hideaway for those who enjoy vegetarian meals with delicate flavors in a nostalgic setting. It’s not for everyone, but for the right crowd, it’s a...

very slow service, waited half hour, but not even one drink is served. came with a good mood reading the good reviews on this shop, ended up with angry and empty stomach. if you are going to this shop, please prepare to wait with good patience. I suspect the rating is high because this shop offers free cake/dessert if you share good reviews. Plus one more down point, the shop is hot and has mosquitoes.

add up comment after reading owner’s reply to the review: -it is good that you read our reviews and try to improve. since you are aware it will be more crowded than usual on weekends, perhaps you should include more new manpower instead of telling your customer you having a lot orders as your reason for not serving drink for at least half an hour. that really ruins customer’s mood who wanted to start the day with a good breakfast. if you cant improve the serving speed, at least before ordering, you should let the customer know it will take very long time to serve them...

Was looking for a brunch spot on holiday and hit up the highest reviews. This vegetarian cafe was a serious hit. The servers explained that they try to make everything in-house to ensure freshness and taste from breads to kombu to cheese, noodles, ice cream etc. My gorgeous pesto ricotta cheese toast sent heavenly wafts up my nose that made angels sing immediately. It was simple but truly fantastic. Also had a soba bowl with fresh ingredients. Variety of matcha lattes and the kombuchas were serious looking. Also had their passionfruit ice cream that was panacea against the heat. Place is gorgeous! My only regret was not having another stomach for the cempedak cake but wanna return for that on...

Our weekend eats at this cafe was not planned. We went there because we were drawn to the art on their Rose Caffe Latte (pic). The coffee is as good as the art. Creamy rich with a distinct floral note. M Breakfast certainly has character and unique charm. It retains much of the old pre-war building structure like the exposed rafters, high ceilings, timber staircase, cement floor. On one side of the wall hangs traditional Chinese wood signages with gold engravings. At the back of the building, they have a beautiful patio and hanging foliage. Before leaving, we tried their homemade ice cream, pu er raspberry lemon and mango sorbet. Love it!
