As soon as we sat down, the waitress informed us that last call was at 7:15pm and we must leave by 8pm. While I understand they close at 8, as someone who has worked in the service industry before, this came off as unwelcoming. It felt like they were rushing us before we even got comfortable, something Iâve never experienced at a cafĂ© or patisserie before.
The food was, at best, mediocre for the price. The omelette was dry and charred, the mushroom soup lacked depth, squid ink spaghetti was forgettable, and the RM9 garlic bread came with just three thin slices of baguette. For that price, I expected more.
Service also left a lot to be desired. The staff seemed untrained, our small table was full, but when food arrived, the waiter just stood there waiting for us to clear space instead of assisting.
We spent over RM120 for an omelette, squid ink pasta, mussels, mushroom soup, garlic bread, a pot of tea, and one dessert. Given the quality and service, it didnât feel worth it.
To top it off, at 8:02pm, while my wife was still having her final sip of tea, the waitress came over and said, âWe are closing, can I clear your cup?â It wasnât 8:15 or even 8:30, it was just 8:02. That really left a bad taste. We felt rushed out the door the moment the clock struck 8.
