Big note: Tofu pudding and jelly is free only when the amount served is comparably low. Don’t assume that it is free after all.
I consider myself a loyal customer. At least once per week. I could finish 10 tofu pudding myself (without being charged as I never go for the sauces) Everything was fine until I suggested my family to celebrate birthday one day. There was 19 of us (13 adults and 6 kids), we chose to fit all of us in the VIP room. We are all served only by one waiter (guess he is new) cuz his face was black throughout. I don’t know if he’s upset that we all fit into that room or so, but yes our birthday celebration got spoiled because of his rude and dark face. After having rounds of meat and dishes, I then ordered 10 tofu puddings to be served. His reaction was harrr as in got shocked with the amount. After getting us 10 puddings, we ordered another 10. After a few rounds of 10 puddings, some of my siblings overheard the waiter complaining to his other colleagues saying waaa this is the N rounds I have taken bla bla. And finally he came in and told me that he will charge me 19 pax of sauces (each RM8) and telling me because we got so much of tofu puddings and aiyu jelly. I felt so cheated right away and when he came in again I expressed the unfairness to him as in we never got ourselves sauces and tofu pudding and aiyu jelly were served free all the time I went. And now you’re charging me the fee for having them (free when the number of pax is less and must pay including kids when the number of pax dining in is a lot). I had even compared, although we asked for 10 puddings to be served, we never got ourselves enough for one. Even though you sent in many times, we had only at most 3-4 each. He then clarified with his big boss and came in again said will charge for 4 pax. Then okay la fine. We got ourselves billed and blacklisted the restaurant.
If you are generous enough to give it (pudding and jelly) free to people, you don’t actually mind the amount. If you’re mindful of the amount, you could actually remind before you serve, not after, cuz we would feel cheated. We ordered a lot of other dishes (meat bla bla etc), it’s not like we went in to eat your so called free desserts. Never expected it to happen in a so-called big and excellent...
Read moreNice China style steamboat restaurant located at G floor of the old wing of One Utama shopping mall. The restaurant environment is great, quite cozy but a little too many activities & noises so not too relaxing. The workers will sing & perform for special occasions such as singing Birthday songs, etc. Quite spacious inside the restaurant. Design rather simple. Group seating rather private.
There are plenty of food / dishes selection from meat (pork, beef, chicken), seafood (fish, clams, scallops, prawns), vegetable & mushrooms to choose from. Rather premium quality food. Besides that, you can order noodles to come with your steamboat. There are noodles that the staffs will perform extending the noodles while dancing before serving the noodles to you.
There are several soup bases to choose from (if not mistaken, 9 types), such as Tomato soup, Mushroom soup, 3 delights soup, Mala soup, Tom Yum soup, Beef soup, etc. You can select the type of pot you want where you can have only 1 type of soup, 2 types of soup or 4 types of soup. You can just select water if you plan to have only 3 types of soup.
Price overall rather at the higher side. However, they provide 1/2 portion with 1/2 price which is rather attractive for smaller group of customers, and they could select more types of dishes. The restaurant charges RM5 for sauce which is a little too much.
There are so many sauces to choose, and you can mix according to your preference. There is desert, salad, peanuts at the same sauce counter which is complementary which goes with the sauce package.
Staffs were friendly, polite and attentive. Service was excellent and efficient. The do provide face changing performance, singing, dancing, etc as part of their service here. They even provide all kind of services before you enter the restaurant; currently only providing snacks & drinks FOC, but previously they provide nail polishing service. There are plenty of waiting tables outside of...
Read moreTerrible service, specifically from the hall manager. Do recommend if you secretly hate your friends.
Our simple inquiry regarding the fried meat’s stale, fishy, smelly, and weird taste upon table arrival was greeted with unbelievable feedback from this manager.
She responded that the staff tried some of the meat and decided that they all tasted “just fine”, and inquired that only one piece of meat tasted weird. We had to explain that we were truly concerned about this plate of meat for health reasons. She replied that if we insisted that it’s stale, they “might as well” change a new one for us. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️This was done reluctantly and upon further confirmation that we had “really” tasted a bad one among all the “good”ones.
This response left us bewildered and shocked at the level of professionalism. Was this response directed towards her belief that that we are trying to scam them off a new plate, or simply to inform us of their distrust towards our food health concerns?
No further attitude changes or urges to change were observed after providing a feedback with such treatment, merely a discount off our meal and a feeble excuse of wanting to double confirm their quality standards, presumably to placate the commotion we might have caused at the entrance during the feedback.
I haven’t been back to Malaysia for a while and this is the first Haidilao experience where we were greeted with such blatant rudeness and hostility. Staff attitude and professional service needs an upgrade if the customer’s simple inquiry about food safety can be turned into an unreasonable one.
The new server who served us was wonderful by the way....
