BIG BOY BREKKIE (RM35) - Signature roast pork shaved & pan fried until crispy. Served with creamy mushrooms, scrambled eggs, german pepper sausage, roast gravy & 2 slices of toasted baguette bread CALAMARI FRITTI (RM25) - Served with Dave's Special Aioli Dip CLASSIC FRENCH ONION SOUP (RM19) - Braised onions in a rich broth topped with croutons & baked with cheese.
Verdict: The best weekends always involve a stuffed tummy so I decided to hog it out at Dave’s Bistro 🤭🐽
Let’s begin with the French onion soup 🧅 It was my first time trying onion soup and I was kinda sceptical about it as I was worried the onions might be too strong, BUT it wasn’t!! It was so good that my perception of onions have changed 😂 The rich broth was so thick that it tasted like gravy. The hot soup was encased in a thin bread which became so soft and soggy after soaking in the soup - it was so comforting and tasty 🥹❤️ But it doesn’t end there…the cheese was the one that won my heart 😍🧀 I didn’t expect cheese to go so well with soup but it was like a match made in heaven. Rich but not cloying 🤯👍🏻
The calamari fritters were a deep fried masterpiece. The special aioli served was so addictive that I couldn’t stop dipping my fritters 🤤 And here comes the HIGHLIGHT: The awesome all day brunch!!! 🥓🍳 At first the portion didn’t seem much, but as you eat, you realise how filling it is and it’s really heavier than I thought 🤪 The roasted shaved pork was remarkable!! It was basically shredded porchetta - never seen this in a big brekkie so I’m very impressed 🤩 The German sausage was my favourite as it was chunky and firm, extremely juicy and of the finest quality (premium sausage I would say). The only type of sausage worthy enough to enter my mouth 😜 jk. Even the spinach deserves a review because it was so fresh and flavourful 😚🥬 I mean how do they even make vegetables delicious?? This place is just porkfection 🐽 Save this spot for your next visit if you’re craving casual French/Italian food or just a porky meal...
Read moreI lived in PJ long enough to see all the changes taking place in 1 Utama. From the days when IKEA was still in this mall, until they expanded into New Wing.. I had seen many businesses come and go.
But Dave's Bistro is a resilient one making 1 Utama its home for the longest time. Serving pork making it a non-halal establishment, Dave is a popular hangout for many people seeking porkylicious meal.
◾Big Boy Brekkie RM39 - for dinner? Why not? It's all day item after all - signature shaved roast pork pan fried until crispy (krok krok sound) served with creamy mushrooms, scrambled eggs, roast gravy and 2 slices of toasted baguette bread. ◾Dave's stuffed mushroom RM24 - white button mushrooms stuffed with bacon, tomato salsa and balsamic reduction worked harmoniously and wonderfully in my mouth. So good that I only got to eat one 🥲 ◾Special truffle nam yue pork RM26 - basically classic favourite Chinese deep fried fermented beancurd pork further enhanced with white truffle oil. Heavenly. ◾Pizzas - be it Smoky BBQ Chicken Pizza RM35 or Classic Margherita RM34, the uneven shape of the pizza dough was on point with its doneness plus generous toppings. Crowd pleaser who love to share. ◾Truffle mushroom Aglio olio RM37 - they made it in vegetarian style as one family member didn't want to eat meat that evening. ◾Chicken Parmigiana RM36 was essentially breaded and deep-fried tender & juicy chicken fillet topped with ham (like icing on the cake) & melted gratin of cheese, with truffle fries and salad on the side. ◾Egg en Cocotte RM14 - light steamed creamy egg in mini cocotte, finished off with drizzle of truffle oil. Served with crusty bread to dip.. quite nice actually. ◾Extra herb roasted potato and mashed potato for the hungry pack who were still hungry at RM8 each.

Read moreI have been visiting this place for over a decade and service has been consistently good when a Chinese lady and/or a Chinese young lady were here managing, visited today to celebrate Father’s Day and very sadly I have to agree with the reviews of patrons who visited during past months and gave a one star. I ordered a Coke Zero and as a habit I always check the bottom of the can to see if it’s expired, it’s clearly written that it’s expired (baik sebelum 110525) and I told the waitress so, so that she could exchange another one for me if they have it or if they don’t then it’s fine. She went back with the can and check with her manager and person in charge then the PIC (a very tall dark skinned man) came to me and tell me that he’s sure that it’s not expired in a rather unapologetic and condescending tone, so I was shocked and thought that maybe it’s my mistake so I double checked together with my family, it’s very clearly 110525 written and he won’t admit that it’s expired. On the table we’ve also ordered another coke and I checked the can too and that’s expiring in 2026, i don’t wanna ruin our mood so I really can’t be bothered to argue with him and ask him to compare the two cans cause seriously it’s freaking obvious that the expiry dates are printed in the same format and anyone with common sense will know that the Coke Zero is expired! They didn’t even apologise or just admit their mistake, and I saw that they kept the whole box of Coke Zero away. If it’s not expired like you claim then why do so? Seriously it’s not that hard to just admit it and apologise, it’s a small issue but how he/ the team handle it is extremely unprofessional and rude, I think the management team should do something about this or this man/ the team will just hinder many patrons...
